Jenna Ortega’s 80% RT Netflix Mystery Thriller Is Now More Important Than Ever

I’m so excited about how important Jenna Ortega’s thriller has become thanks to a recent change at Netflix! Netflix has always been amazing at creating hit shows, some of the biggest we’ve seen in years. And now, it feels like they’re really stepping up their game with big movies too, like the upcoming Narnia remake directed by Greta Gerwig. It’s a fantastic time to be a Netflix fan!

I’ve been totally hooked on Netflix lately, and it’s amazing how many huge shows they’ve created! Things like Bridgerton, The Queen’s Gambit, and even Adolescence are just massive hits. What’s really exciting is seeing all the incredible new talent they’re launching – Jenna Ortega, in particular, feels like a star who’s really on the rise, but there are so many others too!

Now, Ortega is even more of a key player for Netflix, as the show she’s in has become incredibly important to the streaming service’s success.

Wednesday Is Even More Important To Netflix Now That Stranger Things Is Over

The show Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, is a new take on the classic Addams Family stories. Netflix has released two seasons so far, and any future seasons will be especially important because the popular show Stranger Things is ending in December 2025.

Now that Stranger Things has finished with its fifth season, bringing the show to an end after ten years, Wednesday is likely Netflix’s biggest remaining hit. The first season of Wednesday was the second most popular season ever on Netflix, and the second season came in at number seven.

Currently, only the fourth season of Stranger Things has been watched more on Netflix than the second season of Wednesday. Both seasons of Wednesday have actually outperformed many other popular Netflix series, making the upcoming third season particularly highly anticipated.

Netflix Lost 2 Of Its Biggest TV Shows Of All Time In 2025

The recent success of Wednesday is largely due to the ending of two of Netflix’s most popular series. Stranger Things finished in December 2025, and Squid Game concluded just a few months earlier, in June 2025.

Netflix’s first season of Squid Game remains the most popular single season of any show, surpassing even the first season of Wednesday. Seasons 2 and 3 of Squid Game are also incredibly popular, ranking as the third and fourth most-watched shows on Netflix ever. This clearly demonstrates that Squid Game is a major success for the streaming platform.

With two of its most popular shows ending, 2025 is shaping up to be a major moment for the streaming service. While spin-offs are planned, the original shows were far more widely watched. Now, only Wednesday continues to stream.

How Wednesday Season 3 Can Regain The Hype Season 1 Had

Now that the streaming landscape has changed for Netflix, a third season of Wednesday really needs to recapture the excitement of its first season and help fill the void left by the departures of hits like Squid Game and Stranger Things. The show is strongest when the focus is on Wednesday Addams herself – particularly when she’s interacting with Enid – and future seasons should prioritize that dynamic.

While the other students at Nevermore Academy aren’t as captivating as Wednesday herself, her family is a strong point of the show. They played a larger part in season 2, and with season 3 focusing on a new villain, Ophelia Frump, Wednesday’s family is expected to be even more central to the story.

I’m really hoping season 3 of Wednesday gets back to the magic of the first season, and I think it can! Eva Green joining the cast as Ophelia is a huge plus. If the show keeps a compelling story focused on the characters we love – especially Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams – then I think Netflix will be just fine even after Stranger Things is over. It really all comes down to a strong story and great characters, and I’m optimistic they can deliver!
