It’s been a while since he directed a film – Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker came out in 2019 – and he’s been keeping this new Warner Bros. movie, currently called Ghostwriter, very under wraps. I can’t wait to learn more!
The Writers Guild of America has officially listed J.J. Abrams’ upcoming movie as The Great Beyond, confirming its title and genre as a dramatic action-adventure. The film, which stars Emma Mackey and Samuel L. Jackson, is currently in post-production after being filmed earlier this year in London, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Providence, Rhode Island.
Details about the movie’s story are still secret, but after a successful year for Warner Bros., audiences are likely to be excited about this new film. Warner Bros. has two major contenders – “One Battle After Another” and “Sinners” – that are expected to be nominated for Best Picture at the 2026 Oscars, and are predicted to receive nominations in several other categories as well.
Some viewers might be hesitant about Abrams’ new film, considering his last directorial effort, a Star Wars movie, wasn’t well-received. Jenna Ortega quickly rose to fame after starring in the hit Netflix series Wednesday in 2022. She’s also well-known for her roles in the recent Scream films, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, The Fallout, and Death of a Unicorn. Currently, details about her new film, The Great Beyond, are limited, so it’s hard to say if the story will be compelling, but more information is expected soon.
