Jessica Chastain Has Dual Roles in Other Mommy
From the creators of hit movies like Saw, Insidious, and The Conjuring comes Other Mommy, a new film adapted from Josh Malerman’s 2024 novel, Incidents Around the House. Rob Savage, who directed The Boogeyman and Host, is at the helm, with a script by Nathan Elston (known for his work on Succession). The movie features Jessica Chastain alongside Arabella Olivia Clark (The Housemaid), Jay Duplass (Transparent), Dichen Lachman (Severance), Arian Moayed (Wonder Man), Karen Allen (Raiders of the Lost Ark), and Sean Kaufman (The Summer I Turned Pretty).
In the thriller Other Mommy, a young girl named Bela (Clark) develops a disturbing connection with a mysterious presence in her house—a dark reflection of her actual mother, both roles brilliantly portrayed by Chastain. This entity becomes increasingly menacing, endangering Bela and terrorizing their home.
Jessica Chastain is back in the horror genre with this new film. Many viewers will remember her performance as the adult Beverly Marsh in It Chapter Two, and she also starred in the 2013 horror movie Mama. She’s known for chilling roles, including her work in Guillermo del Toro’s gothic romance Crimson Peak from 2015.
Other Mommy will be released in movie theaters on Oct. 9, 2026.
