Jacob Elordi recently received a major award for his role in Frankenstein, and he has two more films scheduled for release in 2026 that could further solidify his success. He’s currently gaining recognition for his performance as Frankenstein’s monster in the newest film by Guillermo del Toro, and is being considered for several awards.
The actor is a strong contender for an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor, and recently won the same award at the Critics’ Choice Awards. This is a major achievement for him, especially considering he’s up against acclaimed performances by actors like Sean Penn in One Battle After Another, Adam Sandler in Jay Kelly, Paul Mescal in Hamnet, and Stellan Skarsgård in Sentimental Value.
Jacob Elordi’s recent Critics’ Choice Award win is a big step forward for his career, and it looks like 2026 will be a great year for him. He’s set to star in two new films this year, both directed by well-respected directors, giving him more chances to showcase his talent.
Jacob Elordi Is Starring In Wuthering Heights And The Dog Stars
Jacob Elordi will star in a new film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, set to release in 2026. Directed by Emerald Fennell, the movie is a passionate and heartbreaking story about the relationship between Heathcliff, played by Elordi, and Catherine Earnshaw, played by Margot Robbie. It’s set in the late 1700s.
The new trailer for Wuthering Heights shows a strong connection between Jacob Elordi and Sophie Robbie, and features beautiful dance sequences. This project reunites Elordi with director Emerald Fennell, who previously worked with him on Saltburn, where he was highly praised for playing Felix Catton. While Elordi is a proven actor, some fans have expressed disappointment with his casting as Heathcliff.
The novel describes a character with dark skin, but the choice of a white actor for the role led to accusations of whitewashing. Historically, actors like Laurence Olivier, Richard Burton, Ralph Fiennes, and Tom Hardy have often played this character. The casting choices were defended by both Fennell and Robbie, with Robbie praising the actor as “our generation’s Daniel Day-Lewis” (according to British Vogue).
Despite some recent criticism, landing the role of Heathcliff is a huge chance for Elordi to play a famous character from a beloved book. It’s a demanding part, but he’s already shown in his work on Frankenstein that he’s capable of bringing complex characters from classic literature to life.
Elordi’s latest role is a safer bet than his previous one, even though he’s working with a director who’s had some recent successes and failures. He’s starring in Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars, based on Peter Heller’s 2012 book. Elordi plays Hig, a pilot surviving in a future world devastated by a near-total wipeout of the population due to illness.
I’m really excited about this movie because Jacob Elordi is leading an amazing cast – you’ve got Josh Brolin, Margaret Qualley, Guy Pearce, and Benedict Wong all in it! The director, Ridley Scott, is a legend, of course – he made classics like Gladiator and Thelma & Louise. Though, I’ve heard his last couple of films, Napoleon and House of Gucci, weren’t quite as universally loved, so I’m hoping this one brings him back to his best.
Despite recent criticisms, Ridley Scott successfully directed Matt Damon to an Oscar nomination for The Martian in 2015, and continues to create visually stunning films, as evidenced by Gladiator II. Scott’s reputation is well-deserved, and The Dog Stars promises to be a great opportunity to highlight Jacob Elordi’s talent.
