HBO has released a final, intense trailer for “It: Welcome to Derry,” giving fans a closer look at the beginnings of Pennywise the Clown and how his terrifying story started in the town of Derry, Maine. This new series is a prequel to the two “It” movies, taking place in 1962 and exploring the events that led up to the films, which were based on Stephen King’s 1986 novel. Bill Skarsgård is back as the frightening creature who thrives on fear, and this series promises a longer, more in-depth look at his evil. The first episode will debut on October 26th, right before Halloween, but viewers should expect more scares than sweets.
The trailer for *It: Welcome to Derry* (available below) came with a simple warning: “Run.” That makes sense, considering the people of Derry face an unbelievably terrifying evil. The trailer is full of blood, violence, and destruction, offering the first hints of a story that feels more connected to Stephen King’s original novel. It expands on the history of the terrifying clown and also explores social issues from the 1960s.
Those familiar with the *It* story might be both thrilled and worried about this new TV show, especially since it’s expected to focus more on characters and unfold at a slower pace than the movies. But don’t worry too much (though a little apprehension is understandable, given the story!) – Stephen King himself has given the show his blessing. If viewers share his positive view, Pennywise could have a long run on television, and the creators already have a plan for future seasons.
