Excitement For This Season…and Beyond?
You can really feel the cast’s excitement, even when they’re describing the sheer logistical challenge of working with this season’s central prop – a device based on quantum entanglement that essentially moves them around the universe. It’s in every single episode, and apparently, it’s surprisingly heavy – one of the creators compared its weight to a sewing machine! Thankfully, actress Lauren Lapkus didn’t have to carry it much, and she admitted she was relieved. She mentioned a lot of scenes involved the male leads running while hauling it, and it clearly wasn’t a walk in the park.
Sussman explains that the way they operated the device was crucial, as their viewers value detail and notice everything. He describes a specific process involving a numbered dial that always begins at zero, and a sequence that had to be performed flawlessly each time it appeared on screen. He admits there was always a worry about making a mistake during the sequence.
The show features many cameos throughout the season, including familiar faces from The Big Bang Theory universe and guest stars from elsewhere. When asked about potential appearances in a second season for characters who don’t appear this year, executive producer Bill Prady said they’re open to having anyone join the cast.
