‘I’m Not Coming’: How Chris Hemsworth’s Daughter Agreed for Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Hemsworth shared the story of how he persuaded his daughter, India Rose Hemsworth, to return for Avengers: Doomsday. He explained that it took some convincing, as she was initially reluctant to film and displayed typical teenage resistance. Ultimately, a potential bribe – which may have included a new motorbike – helped get her back on set to play the role of Love.

How Chris Hemsworth convinced daughter to return for Avengers: Doomsday

Chris Hemsworth shared that it took some convincing – and maybe a little persuading – to get his daughter India to reprise her role in Avengers: Doomsday. He explained on The View that now that she’s 13, she gets impatient on set, asking how much longer filming will take. After just one take, she apparently asked if they were finished, and Chris had to tell her they still had a few more days of shooting left.

I was so amused hearing Chris Hemsworth talk about working with his dog, India! He described her as having this typical teenage mood – she’d often sulk back to her tent or just sit there refusing to cooperate. Apparently, he actually had to bribe her to come to work! She was adamant, telling him, ‘I’m not coming! I’m not even getting paid!’ It was hilarious – he had to point out that she was getting paid, and she was genuinely surprised, asking if that was really true!

Chris shared that Chris Evans wanted to start receiving payments right away. He remembered her saying she wanted some of her earnings immediately. There was a bit of a push from co-director Joe Russo and others to get her back on set, and she was also excited about attending a Billie Eilish concert. Chris recalled her repeatedly asking when the concert started, and he assured her it hadn’t begun yet and they wouldn’t miss it if she just returned to filming.

Talking about motorcycles seemed to change her mind. Hemsworth explained, “She expressed wanting a particular motorcycle and wondered if she could afford it.” He said he told her she probably could, and after a little discussion, she went ahead and bought it.

India returns to play Love, a character she previously portrayed in the 2022 film Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth explained that reports of her being difficult on set weren’t due to a meltdown, but admitted to Sara Haines on The View that she might be a challenging actor to work with. Avengers: Doomsday, starring Chris Evans, Vanessa Kirby, Pedro Pascal, and others, will be released on December 18th.
