Considering the Spider-Man villains who haven’t yet appeared in a live-action movie, Silvermane and Hammerhead seem like the most likely candidates to show up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film is already building a compelling and interesting group of characters for Spider-Man’s next adventure in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Besides possible appearances by Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) and Punisher (Jon Bernthal), Spider-Man will also encounter Mac Gargan, played by Michael Mando. Mando’s character, the Scorpion, was first introduced in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Additionally, the character Tombstone, who is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man comics, is expected to make his live-action debut.
As a big Spider-Man fan, I’ve been looking closely at who’s causing trouble in Brand New Day, and honestly, the ‘villains’ so far feel a little… underwhelming. Tombstone’s a crime boss, sure, and Scorpion is definitely strong, but they don’t quite feel like the big bad guys. I have a feeling Marvel is holding back a lot more threats that Spider-Man will have to face – I’m expecting some bigger reveals soon!
2 Major Spider-Man Villains Have A Higher Chance Of Joining The MCU Than Ever
Following through on the idea that Spider-Man: No Way Home would give Peter Parker a fresh start, Brand New Day seems to be heading towards a more grounded and classic Spider-Man story. Since villains like the Punisher, Tombstone, and Scorpion are all focused on street-level crime, it’s likely any new characters introduced will also be similar, dealing with more personal and local threats.
These three Marvel characters—Tombstone, Punisher, and Scorpion—suggest a storyline heavily influenced by organized crime. Tombstone is a powerful mob boss, Punisher consistently fights gangsters, and Scorpion is often manipulated by them.
Considering the source material Marvel appears to be drawing from for Spider-Man: Brand New Day, two characters stand out as particularly important: Hammerhead and Silvermane.
Hammerhead is a powerful and well-known criminal in the Marvel Universe, easily identified by his distinctive, hammer-shaped head which he uses to attack opponents. He’s a strong fighter who works as a muscle-for-hire for the Maggia crime syndicate, and frequently clashes with Spider-Man, often appearing as a villain or tough guy in more grounded, street-level stories.
I’ve always known Silvermane as Hammerhead’s boss, and he’s a really interesting character! He first showed up back in The Amazing Spider-Man #69 in 1969. Basically, he’s an older crime boss who runs the Maggia. What’s cool about Silvermane is that his age is a huge part of his story – he’s constantly trying to find ways to become young again, and that drives a lot of his actions.
Silvermane Could Be The Main Villain Of Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Between those two villains, Silvermane is a strong contender to be the main antagonist in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. As the head of a powerful gang and a highly ambitious man driven by a fear of death, he has a lot of potential as a character and could easily be the focus of an entire movie.
He might view Spider-Man or the Hulk as a means to prolong his own life, potentially sparking the conflicts we see in the movie. His criminal connections could also put him at odds with the Punisher.
Silvermane began as a crime boss without any special abilities, but he later gained powers when his mind was transferred into a robotic body. This means he’s become a threat to Spider-Man not only through planning, but also with direct physical force.
