The season premiere, titled “Feels Like the Old Days,” addresses rumors that Kim is limiting Kanye’s access to their four children and how they’re navigating the challenges of him being in the public eye as the kids grow up.

It’s been roughly six months since the last season of The Kardashians aired, and since then, Kanye West and his family have been making headlines due to ongoing conflicts. The show suggests Kanye allegedly threatened Kim Kardashian during a dispute about their daughter, North West. Kim admitted to feeling immense pressure to shield her children whenever Kanye publicly airs his views online, as she explained in the episode:

My children will eventually learn and understand things as they get older. As their mother, my main responsibility is to keep them safe while they’re figuring things out.

Kim Kardashian once felt she needed to take care of Kanye West when he was dealing with his bipolar disorder, but now her main focus is on protecting their kids. She went on to say:

Many people believe I should have persevered and offered assistance. While some might assume I can simply walk away and avoid the situation, that’s not the case. We share four children together, and that changes everything.

I really wanted us to have dinner together as a family every night, hoping it would bring us closer. I realize now that might have been too much to ask, but that’s how I grew up – seeing my parents and stepdad successfully co-parent and maintain healthy relationships. I guess that’s just the kind of family dynamic I’m used to, and I accept that it might not be realistic for us right now.

The Kardashians have consistently made co-parenting a priority, a practice that began with Kris Jenner successfully navigating co-parenting after her divorces from Robert Kardashian and marriage to Caitlyn Jenner.

Kim Kardashian concluded her comments about her ex-husband by stating he’s never apologized, and she doesn’t need one. She emphasized that her main focus is being a strong parent to her children.

It’s really upsetting, but I can’t dwell on it too much right now. I have a lot on my plate, and I need to stay strong for my kids. If they see me handling things, I think it will help them stay strong as well.
