If You Wanted An Update On Whether Kanye Is Around For The Kids, Kim Kardashian Just Unloaded On Her Show

Be warned: this article contains spoilers from the beginning of Season 7 of The Kardashians, which is available to watch on Hulu.

A new season of The Kardashians has arrived, and it’s already diving into Kim Kardashian’s co-parenting relationship with Kanye West. The season premiere, titled “Feels Like the Old Days,” addresses rumors that Kim is limiting Kanye’s access to their four children and how they’re navigating the challenges of him being in the public eye as the kids grow up.

It’s been roughly six months since the last season of The Kardashians aired, and since then, Kanye West and his family have been making headlines due to ongoing conflicts. The show suggests Kanye allegedly threatened Kim Kardashian during a dispute about their daughter, North West. Kim admitted to feeling immense pressure to shield her children whenever Kanye publicly airs his views online, as she explained in the episode:

My children will eventually learn and understand things as they get older. As their mother, my main responsibility is to keep them safe while they’re figuring things out.

It’s getting tougher to protect my kids from everything Kanye’s been saying and doing. They’re getting older – North is eleven, and I also have Saint, Chicago, and Psalm – and I think this was the first time one of them really understood what was going on with everything.

Kim Kardashian once felt she needed to take care of Kanye West when he was dealing with his bipolar disorder, but now her main focus is on protecting their kids. She went on to say:

Many people believe I should have persevered and offered assistance. While some might assume I can simply walk away and avoid the situation, that’s not the case. We share four children together, and that changes everything.

There’s been a lot of discussion this year about Kanye West’s limited presence in his children’s lives, and Kim Kardashian insists she isn’t responsible. They’ve been disagreeing for years regarding custody and Kanye’s claims that he’s being kept from his kids. However, Kardashian stated in a recent interview that he simply doesn’t ask to spend time with them.

Okay, let me tell you, the narrative online is incredibly frustrating. Everyone’s acting like I’m deliberately keeping the kids away from their father, but he hasn’t once reached out to ask to see them. It’s a divorce, plain and simple, not some elaborate scheme! We haven’t moved, we’re still at the same house, so he absolutely knows where they are. It’s just…remember when he bought the house next door, promising we’d make this work with a shared custody arrangement, taking turns with school drop-offs? Whatever happened to that plan?

When Kanye West purchased a home near Kim Kardashian, many fans were puzzled. However, Kardashian explained she wanted him to remain a consistent presence in their family’s life, allowing him to share meals with them and be involved with their children. She shared that:

I really wanted us to have dinner together as a family every night, hoping it would bring us closer. I realize now that might have been too much to ask, but that’s how I grew up – seeing my parents and stepdad successfully co-parent and maintain healthy relationships. I guess that’s just the kind of family dynamic I’m used to, and I accept that it might not be realistic for us right now.

The Kardashians have consistently made co-parenting a priority, a practice that began with Kris Jenner successfully navigating co-parenting after her divorces from Robert Kardashian and marriage to Caitlyn Jenner.

Kim Kardashian concluded her comments about her ex-husband by stating he’s never apologized, and she doesn’t need one. She emphasized that her main focus is being a strong parent to her children.

It’s really upsetting, but I can’t dwell on it too much right now. I have a lot on my plate, and I need to stay strong for my kids. If they see me handling things, I think it will help them stay strong as well.

In the first episode of Season 7 of The Kardashians, Kim Kardashian immediately acknowledged the situation with Kanye West, leaving viewers to wonder how much he’ll be discussed throughout the season. You can watch new episodes every Thursday on Hulu. The streaming service will also be the home to her new legal drama, All’s Fair, created by Ryan Murphy, which premieres on Tuesday, November 4th.
