The popular Law & Order franchise returns to NBC on Thursdays in the fall of 2025. The original series will begin its 25th season with some cast changes, while SVU will start its 27th season with a major character’s death. Organized Crime is also back on traditional TV after a brief move to the Peacock streaming service. NBC will be airing a version of Season 5 without any profanity. And for fans who enjoyed Christopher Meloni’s recent appearance on SVU, the next episode of Organized Crime will feature a guest appearance by Mariska Hargitay.

Christopher Meloni’s SVU Ad-Lib

One positive outcome of killing off Captain Don Cragen (played by Dann Florek, who had been with the show since the very beginning of *Law & Order*) in the *SVU* premiere was seeing familiar faces return. BD Wong came back as Dr. George Huang, Dean Winters revisited his role as Brian Cassidy, and Christopher Meloni finally reunited with Mariska Hargitay as Elliot Stabler, partnering with her Olivia Benson once again.

Okay, as a longtime fan, that little scene with Benson and Stabler at Captain Cragen’s memorial really got to me. It was just *so* good to see them have that easy, comfortable banter – the kind of thing I felt was missing for so long after Stabler came back to New York. All that tension from the early seasons finally felt like it was easing up. And Stabler dropping an ‘I love you’ to Benson? Perfect timing and a much better moment for it than the first time. It was a nice way to end the scene as she drove off.

That sweet moment actually happened thanks to Christopher Meloni! He shared on X (formerly Twitter) that the line ‘Love you’ was something he improvised on the spot, and it ended up staying in the final cut.

I really enjoyed the improvised moment between Meloni and Mariska Hargitay – I’m a big fan of seeing them together, but I don’t want their characters to become romantically involved. It reminded me of their last on-screen pairing in *Organized Crime*.

Mariska Hargitay’s Episode Of Organized Crime Season 5

I won’t give away any spoilers for those watching Season 5 of *Law & Order: Organized Crime* on NBC, but Mariska Hargitay made a much-anticipated guest appearance. As viewers of the season premiere saw, the episode ended with Stabler in a car crash. The following promo revealed that he ends up in the hospital and isn’t pleased about it.

Mariska Hargitay is back as Olivia Benson, and her scenes with Elliot Stabler in this episode of *Organized Crime* are among the best since Christopher Meloni rejoined the *Law & Order* franchise in 2021-even better than their heartwarming reunion in *SVU*’s Season 24 finale! The episode also gives fans something they’ve been hoping for: a meeting between Benson and one of Stabler’s brothers.
