The thriller series Homeland is popular again now that all eight seasons are available on Netflix. Originally broadcast from 2011 to 2020, the show stars Claire Danes as a CIA officer investigating whether a U.S. Marine (Damian Lewis) has been turned by terrorists.
I was so excited when all of Homeland finally landed on Netflix back in November 2025 – it’s streaming on Hulu too, by the way! And it’s totally lived up to the hype. According to the numbers THR shared from Nielsen, it’s been a huge success with viewers.
From December 22nd to 28th, the show ranked as a top 10 hit overall across all streaming platforms, racking up 921 million minutes of watch time.
The most popular shows and movies recently included Stranger Things, Landman, Home Alone, The Closer, and the 2000 version of How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Homeland ranked just below these, followed by Fallout, Emily in Paris, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and Bluey completing the top ten.
When looking at shows that weren’t originally made for the streaming service they’re on now, Homeland ranks second, while The Closer is the most popular. Rounding out the top 10 are Bluey, NCIS, Bob’s Burgers, SpongeBob SquarePants, The Big Bang Theory, Grey’s Anatomy, Law & Order, and Paw Patrol.
Both The Closer and another series have become incredibly popular since being added to Netflix, the world’s leading streaming service.
The show Homeland featured a talented cast including Morena Baccarin, David Harewood, Diego Klattenhoff, and Mandy Patinkin, alongside Claire Danes and Rupert Friend. Timothée Chalamet also appeared in several episodes during the show’s first seasons.
During its eight seasons on Showtime, Homeland was highly acclaimed by critics, earning an 85% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and winning numerous awards.
The show Homeland received major honors at the Emmys, including awards for Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series (Lewis), Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series (Danes) on two occasions, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series twice.
Both Danes and Lewis were frequent winners at the Golden Globes, and the show itself received the award for Best Television Series – Drama on two occasions. Additionally, Danes was recognized for her performance by the Screen Actors Guild, winning an award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series.
Since Homeland concluded in 2020, Claire Danes has appeared in shows such as Fleishman Is in Trouble, Full Circle, and The Beast in Me. Meanwhile, Mandy Lewis has recently starred in Fackham Hall, Billions, and A Spy Among Friends. Both Danes and Lewis lent their voices to historical characters in Ken Burns’ PBS documentary series, The American Revolution.
Even though the actors have moved on to different roles, Homeland is still attracting viewers and is now streaming on a major platform.
