Since Sarah Michelle Gellar’s sequence is a dream experienced by Cline’s character Danica Richards, she was the only cast member from the 2025 movie to collaborate with the franchise icon. Her recollections of this event suggest it’s an experience she won’t soon forget. As Madelyn put it,

Simply put, the experience was extraordinary, truly beyond words. It was historic, breathtaking, and I couldn’t help but exclaim to my parents at the end of the day that I had done something remarkable. To have all the original cast members return and be a part of the set was significant. But sharing a scene with Sarah Michelle Gellar, who served as a model for Helen (the character), was incredibly unique and special. It’s hard to find the right words to describe it, but I believe it was one of the most memorable days of my life.

Before the premiere of “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, it was promoted that Jennifer Love Hewitt would reappear as Julie James, and Freddie Prinze Jr. would return as Ray Bronson. However, the makers cleverly kept secret that Sarah Michelle Gellar had filmed a scene for the movie. To clarify, unlike Julie and Ray who survived in the original “I Know What You Did Last Summer”, Helen Shivers – the character played by Sarah Michelle Gellar – did not survive.
