I Was Bummed One Of My Favorite Netflix True-Crime Shows Skipped 2025, But It Sounds Like It’s Coming Back Soon

I really enjoyed a lot of the TV shows and movies I watched this year, and Netflix was a big part of that. I discovered many favorites on the platform, although I was disappointed when a true crime series I loved didn’t have new seasons. Luckily, it seems like that might change, with new episodes planned for 2026.

Even though fans are still hoping for another season of Mindhunter, there’s another excellent true crime show that might be coming back soon. I’m optimistic about this because of a recent post on social media.

Unsolved Mysteries’ X Account Hinted Volume 6 Is On The Way

We received two sets of episodes for Unsolved Mysteries last year, but Netflix hasn’t announced when new episodes will be available in 2025. The show hadn’t been officially canceled or renewed, but that might be about to change. Here’s the latest update from the show’s official X (formerly Twitter) account:

It’s been months since the Unsolved Mysteries social media account last posted, and this is the first time this year they’ve suggested new episodes might be coming. While Netflix hasn’t officially announced anything, this post has me more hopeful than before about a new season of the show. Still, it’s possible this is just a fun post from someone managing the account, and not a real announcement.

Are We Getting A UFO-Specific Season?

Something else that’s interesting about this post is its mention of stars. That immediately made me think of all the episodes about aliens and unexplained aerial phenomena that Unsolved Mysteries has covered in the past. Is it possible the show is planning a season focused on UFOs?

I’m torn about that idea. I absolutely love science fiction – I even recently tried to get Hallmark to make a Star Trek-themed movie! – but I also really enjoy crime dramas. The appeal, for me, is that the mysteries usually get resolved, and that’s where the show really shines.

I’d be thrilled if Unsolved Mysteries definitively proved the existence of alien life, but that seems like a really big goal for the show, even considering how long it’s been on TV.

I’m really enjoying this recent post and I’m looking forward to more updates from Unsolved Mysteries next year. Until then, I have plenty of true-crime documentaries on Netflix to keep me occupied – and there are tons to choose from!
