I Thought Alaskan Bush People Was Canceled, But Bear Brown Shared An Encouraging New Update

I started watching Alaskan Bush People on HBO Max after seeing it on TikTok, and now my feed keeps me updated on the family. I was worried when I noticed there hadn’t been any new episodes since 2022 and thought the show was cancelled, but a recent post from Bear Brown explained what’s going on, and it sounds like new episodes are still planned.

Bear Brown continues to share his life in the Alaskan wilderness, now primarily through his social media. He’s also curious about the future of his Discovery series and recently updated his TikTok followers on any news he has about its potential return.

I recently contacted the people at Discovery to check on the status of the show. It had been about a year since our last conversation. I wanted to find out if it was officially cancelled so I could inform my fans. I heard back from an executive who said the show is currently on hiatus. They aren’t cancelling it, but they’re busy with a merger and potential sale of the company, so it’s on hold for now. So, officially, Alaskan Bush People hasn’t been cancelled, it’s just on hiatus.

I was so excited to hear there’s still a possibility of more Alaskan Bush People! But honestly, I’m really curious about what that would even look like now. So much has changed – Billy’s passing was heartbreaking, and most of the kids are all grown up with their own lives and families. I don’t think we’ll ever see them all roughing it in the wilderness like they used to, and that’s okay. I’m just glad there’s a chance to see more of the Brown family, even if it’s different.

If Discovery decides to revive the reality show, Bear Brown says he’s interested in returning, with just one request. Considering how things are in reality TV today, it shouldn’t be a difficult one, according to him.

Honestly, I’d be thrilled if they brought it back next year, or even the year after! As long as I’m still able to handle the social media side of things, I’m completely in. I’m really happy to help and support it if they decide to continue.

Discovery’s uncertainty about continuing Alaskan Bush People stems from several recent issues involving the Brown family. The eldest son, Matt Brown, faced rape accusations, and Bear Brown was arrested for domestic violence. Adding to these problems, Rain Brown publicly claimed her brother Noah sexually assaulted her, and he responded with a video on TikTok.

More On Discovery

I doubted Forrest Galante’s ‘Animals on Drugs’ series would last past a few episodes, but he apparently has plenty more animals lined up for a second season.

Since Bear Brown is the only one providing information about the future of Alaskan Bush People, we’ll have to wait to see what Discovery decides. Considering all the family issues, it seems unlikely the show will return for the 2026 season. However, a special episode looking back at the family’s challenges since the show began is a possibility.

You know, it’s been years since we first met the Brown family, and a lot has changed. Many of those kids are now parents themselves, and honestly, I can’t picture them all dropping everything to head back to Alaska. Bear seems really enthusiastic about reviving the show, which is great, but I’m genuinely curious to know if his brothers and sisters feel the same way. Will everyone be on board, or is he the only one wanting a return to the bush?

As a movie and TV critic, I’ve been checking out HBO Max, and it’s a pretty solid streaming service. For just $10.99 a month, you get access to a huge library of content – everything from the entire DC universe, including all the new DCU and DCEU stuff, to reality shows like Alaskan Bush People. Plus, they’ve got tons of movies, shows, and documentaries. If you’re looking for a wide variety of entertainment, it’s definitely worth considering.

While we wait to find out if Alaskan Bush People will return for more seasons, you can currently watch all available episodes on HBO Max. I’m actually watching it now and hope to finish the whole series by the end of the year.
