Next year is a huge event for the Marvel Cinematic Universe with the release of Avengers: Doomsday. While the film is incredibly important for the franchise’s future, many fans are simply excited to see all their favorite heroes team up again. Interestingly, some of the actors share that excitement, including Simu Liu, a newer face in the MCU, and I particularly liked his perspective.
For seasoned actors like Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr., who’ve been with the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Avengers films for years, Avengers: Doomsday is probably just another project. But for newer faces like Simu Liu, star of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, being involved is a significant moment. Liu recently shared with ScreenRant how much the experience meant to him, especially the chance to work alongside such established stars. He explained…
It’s a dream come true! There are so many talented actors involved, and it’s amazing to work alongside people I’ve admired since I was a kid.
Simu Liu has shared his excitement about being on the set of Avengers: Doomsday before, and it’s still heartwarming to hear. He’s clearly still amazed to be a movie star and part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and it’s great to see his enthusiasm.
Although Simu Liu didn’t grow up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Avengers aren’t the only superhero team appearing in Doomsday. Original X-Men cast members will also be involved. Considering that Simu Liu was only eleven years old when Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen first portrayed Professor X and Magneto, he likely didn’t watch those performances as a child.

Disney+ lets you stream Marvel movies and shows, with plans starting at $11.99 per month for a version with ads. You can watch without ads for $18.99 a month, or save 16% by paying $189.99 upfront for a full year. See the deal here.
Based on recent hints, it’s possible Shang-Chi’s next movie might feature some of the original X-Men cast. However, it’s difficult to say for sure, as very few details about the film have been revealed. It seems the absence of stars like Tom Holland and Mark Ruffalo may be the reason for the lack of leaks.
As a huge cinema fan, I’m incredibly excited about the possibility of the X-Men – even if it’s not quite the official MCU version yet – finally teaming up with the Avengers on the big screen. It’s going to be massive! Simu Liu has hinted at this too, and it really gets me thinking about just how epic Avengers: Doomsday will be…
You know, watching this film felt like the director was just having a blast celebrating everything we love about superhero movies. It’s genuinely a fun, affectionate tribute to the genre, and that really shines through.
If we enjoy watching Avengers: Doomsday even half as much as Simu Liu enjoyed making it, we’re in for a treat! The movie hits theaters on December 18, 2026, and you can also find other Marvel Cinematic Universe films on Disney+.
