I used to love watching the original Spartacus series, so I was excited about the new spin-off focusing on a character getting a second chance. I anticipated plenty of violence, brutal arena fights, and shocking scenes – the kind that make you wonder how it gets aired on television. However, after watching the first few episodes of Spartacus: House of Ashur, I’ve become completely captivated by a particular character.
Graham McTavish’s character, Korris, also known as the Doctore and a gladiator trainer, is one of the most compelling I’ve encountered in upcoming 2025 TV shows. His interactions with Nick E. Tarabay’s Ashur are fascinating, and I’m increasingly eager to see how his storyline develops with each new episode.

There Are So Many Dynamic Characters, But I Can’t Stop Thinking About Korris
The show has introduced many compelling characters, and Korris is easily the most fascinating. While characters like Tenika Davis’ Achillia—who was central to a particularly intense scene—and Tarabay’s Ashur are both excellent, and I’m invested in everyone’s story, Korris is the one I find myself consistently drawn to. Each character contributes to the overall narrative and has a promising storyline, but Korris stands out.
Korris appears to be a hardened warrior, a former gladiator who fought his way to freedom. However, as his story unfolds, we see a gentle, sensitive side to him – a man longing for connection and love. He’s a truly well-developed and inspiring LGBTQ+ character, and his storyline in Spartacus: House of Ashur is exceptionally rich and compelling.

This Is Just The Beginning Of His Journey, And I Can’t Wait To See Where It Goes
Okay, so without spoiling anything, Korris is right in the middle of what’s become the most unexpectedly sweet love story on the show, and honestly, I’m totally hooked! I never thought I’d be watching House of Ashur and rooting for a romance more than I am for, you know, who’s going to survive, but here we are. Now I’m actually counting down the days until Friday just to see what happens with Korris and where their story goes!
Look, I love a good action flick, and this show definitely delivers on the violence – it is a spin-off from a series famous for its brutal deaths, and so far, it hasn’t disappointed. But what really surprised me about House of Ashur is how it balances those shocking, violent moments with genuinely touching scenes. It’s a combination that, much like the character of Korris, creates something really special and satisfying to watch.
I’m still watching Spartacus: House of Ashur, mainly because I’m curious about what happens with the character Korris. Plus, the show has incredibly stylish and over-the-top violence in the gladiator battles, which is pretty entertaining.
