Fans have received another short preview for the new Avengers: Doomsday movie, and it’s already sparking discussion. This latest clip focuses on both Wakanda and the underwater kingdom of Talokan. What’s particularly interesting is seeing Namor and his people on land, which has led to a theory that seemed unlikely at first, but now feels more plausible.
What Have Been Fans Been Theorizing Following This Latest Doomsday Tease?
The newest trailer for the upcoming Avengers movie features a lot of desert imagery. It shows Shuri, the new Black Panther, and M’Baku, now king of Wakanda, meeting with Ben Grimm from the Fantastic Four. We also see Namor on his throne, with his people overlooking a sandy landscape that includes a temple seemingly belonging to Talokan. This has led fans on platforms like Reddit and X to speculate that Doctor Doom, the film’s likely villain, will drain all the water from Talokan, turning it into a desolate wasteland.

Many fans don’t share that idea, though. Some believe Namor and his people are actually located in the desert surrounding Wakanda, which is where Shuri and her team seem to be. To be honest, I was torn between these two possibilities at first. Both ideas seemed plausible, and the teaser trailer itself is pretty unclear, making it hard to know for sure.
I was initially unsure what was happening, so I rewatched the clip several times, which was really helpful. Those extra viewings gave me a much clearer understanding of the situation.
Why The Wakanda-Centric Teaser Is Starting To Make More Sense To Me
I’ve watched the Avengers: Doomsday teaser several times now, and I’m pretty sure the scenes with Shuri/M’Baku and Namor take place in different places. It looks like the editors made them appear connected because the locations are visually similar. To me, everything fits together well except for the scenes with the people of Talokan. However, it seems like Shuri’s group is traveling through the desert areas just outside of Wakanda.
The people of Talokan seem to be on land that was once underwater, which is surprising but possible. This could be the work of Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.), who might be causing disruptions between universes and impacting Talokan. Weakening Namor and his kingdom would be a strategic move for Doom. See the teaser trailer below for more clues.
It looks like this story is actually made up of two different scenes from Doomsday, happening in separate places. I could be mistaken, but that’s my impression. Putting speculation aside, it’s really exciting to see Wakandans working with a Fantastic Four member and Namor making a comeback. It’s great that Doom has a large-scale plan, similar to Thanos, that brings together characters from all over the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
