I Cannot Get Over The Sweet Gift Shrinking’s Jessica Williams Got For Harrison Ford

What I love about the show Shrinking is the strong sense of family among the characters – they genuinely care for each other. It’s heartwarming to learn the cast feels the same way in real life! There are many stories about their close bonds, but one that stands out is Jessica Williams giving Harrison Ford a really thoughtful gift, which reminded me of a sweet moment earlier in the show when Gaby gave Paul a water bottle.

Before the third season of Shrinking airs in 2026, I spoke with the cast about the upcoming season and their experience working on the show. I had a particularly detailed conversation with Jessica Williams, focusing on her character Gaby’s connection with Paul (Harrison Ford). When I asked about her working relationship with Ford, she shared a sweet story about giving him a crossword puzzle book as a gift.

I found a really nice gift for him. We both enjoy doing crosswords, especially the easier ones from the New York Times. I gave him a book containing all the Monday puzzles – those are the easiest – and he had no idea those compilations even existed! He was really happy with it.

That’s such a lovely and considerate gift! I especially love that it’s the Monday crossword puzzle. The New York Times crosswords get more challenging as the week goes on, and it’s really sweet that Ford and Williams connected over enjoying the easier ones. I feel exactly the same way!

Okay, so the story really takes a turn here. Apparently, while this actress – you know, the one from Booksmart – was waiting for a special gift to arrive, she was practically bursting to tell the 1923 star all about it. But he wouldn’t let her! She actually told me this herself, and it was fascinating…

It was funny because I was so eager to give him the gift, I actually asked if I could tell him what it was! I’d been waiting for it to arrive and couldn’t help but ask. But he insisted he didn’t want to know and wanted to be surprised, which was really sweet of him.

Throughout the series Shrinking, it’s become obvious that Ford and Williams genuinely care for and admire each other. A sweet example of this was when they both received Emmy nominations last year and sent each other heartwarming congratulatory messages.

They’re also always quick to praise each other. For example, the Star Wars actor once described Robin Williams as being like Yoda to him. And the Incredible Jessica James star praised Harrison Ford’s performance in the Season 2 finale, also sharing how he offered support after filming the emotionally challenging scene.

As a movie buff, I always love seeing genuine connections between actors translate onto the screen, and that’s definitely the case with Paul and Gaby. They really have each other’s backs, both as friends and when they’re working together. Jessica Williams actually talked about this, and how their relationship deepens in Season 3, saying…

I truly enjoyed the experience, especially working on the scenes with Paul and Gaby this season. Their storyline is really touching. I loved the dynamic of my character becoming a father figure and mentor to Jimmy and Gaby, and it was rewarding to see him support her. You don’t often see that kind of relationship portrayed on screen. Plus, Harrison is an incredible actor, and I feel so fortunate to have shared a scene with him. It was a real pleasure to be a part of it all.

I’m really looking forward to seeing how their story unfolds on screen! Throughout the series, Paul and Gaby have shared a unique connection, and it’s obvious Jason Segel and Harrison Ford have great chemistry too. I’m excited to watch their relationship develop in Season 3, and I hope it includes some fun, lighthearted moments – like water bottles, sing-alongs, and even crosswords.
