How To Increase Clan Affinity In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2

In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, the clan you choose at the start is permanent, but you won’t be locked out of interacting with other clans or building relationships with their leaders. Think of your clan like a character class – it defines your starting point. However, each clan also has its own unique skill tree, and you’re free to explore and develop skills from any of them.

While you can gain abilities from different skill areas, it usually requires a lot of Action Points. This is the primary way to customize your character and represents the deepest level of role-playing in VTM: Bloodlines 2.

To balance things out, you can complete tasks for different clans, gradually improving your relationship with them. Each clan has unique requirements for building that relationship, so you’ll need to pay attention if you want to create a well-rounded character.

In Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, you can romance every member of the different clans. As you build relationships with them by completing their personal quests, you’ll also be able to feed on them – a key part of the game’s straightforward romance system.

Brujah

Silky — The Dutchman

To get on good terms with the Brujah clan, head to The Dutchman in the northwest part of the map and find Silky.

Silky wants you to disable security cameras all over Seattle. Explore the city, use your special vision to locate them, and then use your telekinetic powers to destroy them.

This system basically works like a scavenger hunt. You don’t need to find a specific number of items to progress; instead, the more you collect, the better your relationship with Silky becomes, and the cheaper Brujah abilities will be.

Actually, you don’t need to tell Silky when you discover security cameras – your relationship with her will improve automatically as you find them. This applies to all other quests that reward affinity as well (see details below).

Banu Haqim

Niko — Aurora Pawn

To become more respected by the secretive Banu Haqim, find Niko, a representative of the clan, at his office in Aurora Pawn, located in the southwest part of town.

The Banu Haqim have unique requests. Unlike others, they don’t just ask for an item once. Instead, they’ll usually give you a new task each night. Be sure to check in with them often, and aim to complete their requests before sunrise.

Toreador

Patience — Aurora Pawn

Okay, so I found out something cool! If you’re looking for Patience, one of the people connected to the Toreador group, she hangs out at Aurora Pawn. It’s in the southwest corner of the map, so keep an eye out when you’re over there!

To gain Patience’s favor, you need to find nine special crosses—called Crosses of Saint James—hidden throughout the game world. Similar to Silky and the Brujah, you don’t have to complete tasks for Patience to increase your relationship with her; simply discovering the crosses and occasionally checking your skill tree is enough.

Tremere

Mrs. Thorn — Wake The Dead

If you want to become more friendly with the Tremere clan, go see Mrs. Thorn at Wake the Dead. You can find it just west of the center of the map, near Aurora Pawn and Makom Bar.

Throughout the game, Mrs. Thorm, similar to Niko, will occasionally give you optional quests. If you want to become closer to the Tremere, be sure to check with her often to get these quests.

Ventrue

Fletcher — Makom Bar

You’ll first encounter Fletcher, a member of the Ventrue clan, in VTM: Bloodlines 2. He’s always located in the same spot: behind the piano at Makom Bar in the south.

So, this guy asked me to go around town and scrub off a bunch of graffiti – apparently, it’s from this Anarch group. It’s kind of a fetch quest, basically, where I have to find and clean up all the tags. He said if I do it, it’ll boost my reputation with the Tremere clan, which is cool, so I’m on it!

Lasombra

Onda – Glacier Hotel

You’ll eventually meet Onda, the representative of the Lasombra clan, at the Glacier Hotel. This hotel is in the southern area of the map, and you’ll be returning there several times throughout the story.

Onda offers many sidequests during the game. Like the other NPCs who give quests, be sure to check back with her often to improve your relationship with her.

Here’s a quick guide to all the clans, who leads them, and how to become more friendly with them:

Clan NPC Location Affinity Requirements
Brujah Silky The Dutchman Collectible (security cameras)
Banu Haqim Niko Aurora Pawn Sidequests
Toreador Patience Aurora Pawn Collectible (Crosses of Saint James)
Tremere Mrs. Thorn Wake the Dead Sidequests
Ventrue Fletcher Makom Bar Collectible (Anarch graffiti)
Lasombra Onda Glacier Hotel Sidequests

As you finish each character’s special quests, be sure to look at your skill tree. You’ll gradually find that unlocking abilities costs fewer ability points.

As a fan, I’m really excited about how character progression works in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. Basically, you find the right NPC, pay them with blood resonance – which feels so on-theme! – and learn new abilities whenever you’re ready. Plus, your character’s inherent affinities will actually lower the cost of unlocking skills, giving you even more freedom to build the vampire you want.
