Pokémon Legends: Z-A features exciting new Mega Evolutions that longtime fans will love. Although some Pokémon, like Tatsugiri, haven’t been around for very long, it’s still been great to see these updated forms.
Certain Mega Evolutions act as powerful opponents, similar to boss battles in the main games. Luckily, you’ll be able to rely on assistance from other characters in the game to defeat them.
Where To Find Tatsugirinite
It’s Part Of A Story Mission
Once you begin the Pokémon Legends: Z-A DLC and advance the story until you reach “Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 3”, characters will ask you to gather research points. These points are needed to unlock the Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena, where you’ll find the Tatsugirinite – the item needed to Mega Evolve Tatsugiri.
You’ll find this battle just north of the map’s center, accessed through a Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena portal. It’s the final challenge for the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 3 Mission. Win, and you’ll receive the Tatsugirinite as a reward, plus Amazing Butter to create even better donuts!

It’s A Reward From The Battle
You’ll automatically catch Mega Tatsugiri after defeating it in battle – no extra steps required! Just be prepared, as you’ll need a strong team of Pokémon to win the fight.
Mega Tatsugiri is weak to:
- Dragon type
- Fairy type
Mega Tatsugiri is resistant to:
- Steel type
- Fire type
- Water type
Even though you’re at level 140 in the story, you’ll now have access to better butter. This butter can significantly increase your Pokémon’s levels while they’re traveling through Hyperspace portals. I used it to boost my level 100 Pokémon to level 136 – enough to challenge this powerful Rogue Mega Evolution. As usual for these tough boss fights, your NPC teammates will also be there to help.
Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension is full of surprises! As you progress through the story, you’ll find portals that let you discover all the Mega Evolutions. And when you head into those challenging battles, make sure you’re well-prepared with helpful items. Don’t worry if you encounter a Pokémon at a high level – you’ll be even more powerful in return!
