How Lincoln Lawyer Season 4’s Major Death Will Impact Mickey In Season 5 Explained By Showrunner

Okay, fellow movie and TV fans, huge warning here – major spoilers for season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer coming up! Let me tell you, the show just dropped a bombshell that’s going to completely change things for Mickey Haller. Seriously, it’s a game-changer for him.

I just read an interview with Ted Humphrey, the showrunner of The Lincoln Lawyer, and he’s talking about how a big character’s death in season 4 is going to really affect Mickey Haller as we head into season 5. It sounds like it’s going to be a major turning point for him!

I was just reading an interview with Angus Humphrey over at TV Insider, and he was talking about how Legal’s death in season four of The Lincoln Lawyer is going to really impact Mickey Haller moving forward. Here’s what he had to say about it:

The story element exists in the source material, but we presented it differently in our adaptation. We took a significantly different approach. Actually, in the book, I believe this event happens off-page, and you only learn about it through related stories, perhaps concerning his final days. Given the wise, mentor-like relationship between the character and Legal – similar to how Yoda guided Luke even after death – it felt necessary for the story to progress in that direction.

It was a very emotional experience for everyone involved, especially when Elliott finished filming his last scene. The entire crew jumped to their feet for a standing ovation, and we were all so happy for him. He clearly loved working on the show, and it’s been a privilege to work with him. The show’s style is heavily inspired by classic California noir films from the 1970s, particularly Chinatown. In fact, The Long Goodbye, where Elliott famously played Philip Marlowe, served as a major model for our series. It’s been incredible having him on the show, given that connection – it adds a really unique layer.

This situation will likely continue to bother him in the future. It reminds me of the episode “Ghosts” where both his father and Glory Days were present in his life, creating a lasting impact. Now, ‘Legal’ has joined that group of people who will always be a part of Mickey’s story, because, as someone once said, you can’t escape your past.

More to come…
