The new Avengers movie, Doomsday, will reportedly include some unexpected guest appearances. A source says Marvel is using clever methods to keep these surprises under wraps.
How is Avengers: Doomsday keeping cast members a secret?
Alex Perez from My Cosmic Circus recently posted an AI-generated image on social media showing Hugh Jackman and Tobey Maguire seemingly on the set of a movie, dressed as their characters Wolverine and Spider-Man. The image quickly spread online, appearing as if it was a real behind-the-scenes shot from a film called Doomsday.
Perez confirmed that both actors are in the movie, but clarified that a recent photo circulating online is not real. He explained that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man suit scenes were filmed using motion capture technology. Additionally, he mentioned that the actors filmed their parts separately, meaning many of their appearances together are being created in post-production.
It sounds like Marvel Studios is working hard to keep major plot details from being revealed before the new movie comes out. However, with so much excitement and demand for information, it’s probably impossible to keep everything secret. Many fans already have a good idea of which stars will appear.
The movie will feature several popular actors returning from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as the Invisible Woman, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes (the Winter Soldier), Letitia Wright as Shuri (Black Panther), and Paul Rudd as Ant-Man.
The movie will also feature appearances by Wyatt Russell as U.S. Agent/John Walker, Tenoch Huerta as Namor, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing/Ben Grimm, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Hank McCoy/Beast, Lewis Pullman as Bob/Sentry, Danny Ramirez as Joaquin Torres/Falcon, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm/Human Torch, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki.
The next X-Men movie will feature the return of several familiar faces, including Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, Ian McKellen as Magneto, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, James Marsden as Cyclops, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.
