House of the Dragon Season 3 wraps up filming

Filming for Season 3 of House of the Dragon has finished after six months at Leavesden Studios in England. Now that shooting is complete, the show is entering the post-production phase and is expected to be released in summer 2026 (according to Redanian Intelligence).

HBO plans to release the next installment of the Game of Thrones prequel in the summer of 2026. According to HBO executive Casey Bloys, the show will likely premiere in June, shortly after the deadline for Emmy nominations in May.

This season was filmed entirely in the UK, a change from previous seasons which featured international locations. Now that filming has finished, the focus is on editing and finishing the show.

The upcoming season will have eight episodes and is expected to cover key events from George R.R. Martin’s book, *Fire & Blood*, including the Battle of the Gullet. Fan favorites Matt Smith, Emma D’Arcy, and Olivia Cooke are returning, and they’ll be joined by new cast members Tom Cullen, Joplin Sibtain, Barry Sloane, Adam Brown, and Annie Shapero.

Ryan Condal, working with George R.R. Martin, created House of the Dragon, which tells the story of the Targaryen family. The next season will be the second-to-last, and HBO has announced that the show will end after four seasons.
