Honkai: Star Rail 4.2 Update: Release Date, Livestream Codes, New Characters, Banners, Story Updates, Events, & More

Okay, so HoYoverse just dropped all the info on Honkai: Star Rail 4.2! We’re getting a release date soon, plus a couple of new characters to pull for. They showed off the banner schedule, what’s coming in the story, and a bunch of other cool stuff. It’s crazy to think the game is almost a year old – we’re still enjoying version 4.1 right now, which added the Ashveil area, but 4.2 is right around the corner!

This update is shorter than usual, both in terms of what it includes and how long it will be available. Normally, updates last about six weeks, but Version 4.1 will only be active for four weeks. HoYoverse announced this change previously to give the development team more time to work on the content for Version 4.2. That’s why Version 4.1 was released just two weeks ago, and we’ve already seen a preview of the next update.

The Update Arrives In April

HoYoverse usually releases updates on a predictable schedule, so fans had a good idea of when the next one was coming. The developers recently announced that the Honkai: Star Rail 4.2 update will launch on April 22nd on all platforms. Players in some time zones might even be able to start playing late on April 21st.

Now that the developer has announced the update’s release date, it’s highly probable it won’t be delayed. HoYoverse typically informs players in advance if a release is postponed, and usually reschedules the livestream as well. Since that hasn’t happened this time, you can expect Version 4.2 to launch on April 22nd.

The recent special event featured important information, but don’t forget the livestream codes! HoYoverse released three codes for Version 4.2 of Honkai: Star Rail. Each code gives players 100 Stellar Jade and other items, meaning you can earn up to 300 free Stellar Jade if you redeem them before they expire.

New Characters & Banners Confirmed For Honkai: Star Rail 4.2

Silver Wolf LV.999 & Evanescia Will Be Elation DPS Characters

HoYoverse previously teased the new characters coming in Version 4.2 through social media, and now they’ve officially revealed them after a recent livestream. The event showcased the abilities of Silver Wolf LV.999 and Evanescia, explaining how they fight and suggesting which other characters they’ll pair well with in battle.

Silver Wolf LV.999 is a powerful 5-star character in Honkai: Star Rail who specializes in the Path of the Elation. This version of Silver Wolf is different from the original, designed to be a primary damage dealer (DPS) for your team. Reflecting her love of gaming, her abilities include elements of chance, similar to opening loot boxes, with each skill having a variety of possible outcomes.

Silver Wolf is designed to be a primary damage dealer in teams, and she works especially well with characters like Yao Guang in Honkai: Star Rail. Yao Guang can boost Silver Wolf’s damage, as she focuses on dealing damage based on the Elation status effect. You could also build teams with two main damage dealers, pairing Silver Wolf with a character like Sparxie.

Okay, so Version 4.2 is bringing a new 5-star character named Evanescia, and honestly, she reminds me a lot of Yae Sakura from Honkai: Star Rail. She’s a Physical DPS who follows the Path of the Elation, which basically means she’s designed to be the main damage dealer in your team. I’m guessing characters like Yao Guang will be super helpful in boosting her damage even further – she’s definitely shaping up to be a hypercarry!

Along with new characters, HoYoverse is updating Welt, Seele, Huohuo, and Firefly in Honkai: Star Rail version 4.2. These updates, called Novaflare buffs, adjust their abilities to stay competitive with the current game and address power imbalances that have developed over time. Seele, one of the very first 5-star characters, is receiving particularly significant changes.

HoYoverse has been careful not to reveal too much of the story to avoid spoiling it for players. However, we now know that Version 4.2 will explore the Phantasmoon Games on Planarcadia in more detail, and will reveal how Himeko’s story ties into the Trailblazer’s current journey.
