How will The Boys universe handle Homelander’s final season?
Valorie Currey, who plays Firecracker in The Boys, recently spoke with ScreenRant about her character’s relationship with Homelander. When asked if Firecracker accepts being used by him or desires independence, Currey responded that she doesn’t believe anyone is simply a tool for Homelander. She explained, “I don’t think anybody’s Homelander’s pawn, he cannot play chess.”
According to her, Sage is likely the one manipulating events, and Homelander might be involved, though it’s hard to say for sure. She believes Homelander thinks he’s a master strategist, but he actually operates on impulse and reaction. As for Firecracker, Curry thinks she doesn’t realize until the end of season four that she’s being used as a pawn – that being close to powerful people isn’t true power, and is actually a very vulnerable position.
The actor discussed their character’s internal conflict, explaining that she’s now grappling with both genuine love and devotion for Homelander, alongside a growing fear of him. The core of her journey in the upcoming season will be figuring out if she can reconcile these opposing feelings, and what she even wants from the situation.
Could Homelander’s Weakness Help The Boys Defeat Him By The End Of Season 5?
Homelander is incredibly powerful in The Boys, but the show consistently highlights that his biggest flaw is also what makes him strong: his massive ego. Based on what we’ve seen, it’s likely that as Homelander pursues his goals, the people he believes are his allies will ultimately abandon him.
Even those who are loyal to Homelander, like Firecracker, might eventually betray him. His excessive pride could ultimately be his downfall. It’s still unclear how The Boys will show his defeat in season 5, as the show has already significantly changed some storylines from the original comics.
The cast and crew of The Boys have emphasized that season 5 will be incredibly dangerous for everyone involved – no character is safe. By the end of the series, it will be surprising to see who survives. With so much of the final season still a secret, excitement is building to an all-time high.
