The new HBO series of Harry Potter didn’t immediately show a wide shot of Hogwarts, but we can expect to see that later. Instead, the first episode gave us glimpses inside, including the Entrance Hall, a few classrooms, the Gryffindor Common Room, and other impressive spaces like hallways and staircases. The castle’s interior feels comfortably familiar, with many rooms looking similar to those in the movies, featuring beige stone and arched ceilings. Similar to what we saw in Hogwarts Legacy, the Hogwarts Castle featured in HBO’s series seems to be even more detailed and vibrant. Hogwarts Legacy, as a video game, overcame those restrictions. The game made the castle feel incredibly real and immersive, finally bringing the beloved setting from the Harry Potter books to life.

The upcoming Harry Potter TV series aims to closely follow the books, so Hogwarts Castle needs to feel as detailed and magical as it does in the Hogwarts Legacy video game. As Harry progresses through school, he discovers more of the castle’s hidden areas and secrets—Hogwarts almost feels like a character itself that he gets to know over time. To achieve this effectively, the HBO series needs to set a high standard for its production design. Drawing inspiration from the successful design of Hogwarts Legacy would be a great starting point.
