It seems like a long time ago that Hogwarts Legacy came out in 2023, and players have been looking for similar games ever since. While magical school games aren’t completely rare, a new one is generating a lot of excitement.
A new fantasy game where you play as a student is launching on Steam, and it has the potential to become a major title in the life simulation genre.
Luenna: School Of Magic Looks Adorable
The Concept Is Intriguing
The game Luenna: School of the Magi is now listed on Steam, offering a look at the game with an overview and screenshots, though a release date hasn’t been announced yet.
Luenna: School of the Magi is a fantasy RPG where you experience life as a student. You’ll balance everyday tasks with challenging turn-based combat, and there are tons of ways to spend your time – just make sure you get to class! You play as a student without magical abilities at an academy for gifted Magi, so you’ll need to work hard to prove yourself and achieve your goals.
In Luenna, gameplay revolves around a three-step process: gathering resources, crafting items, and battling opponents. You’ll collect plants and creatures to use as ingredients, and employ ‘spirits’ to help with crafting. The game features four different houses and 16 elements, which allows for a wide variety of character builds and adds depth to the strategic gameplay.
The game focuses on building relationships, letting you make friends or even create rivals. The developer has stated you can pursue romances, forge friendships, or become enemies with the characters you meet.
You can hang out with friends at a café, and throughout the game, you’ll be able to recruit helpful characters to join you. The school, Luenna, has fallen on hard times, so you’ll also be working to restore it to its former greatness – it’s a bit of an underdog story!
Hogwarts Legacy + Stardew Valley = This Game
There’s Potential Here
What really makes the game appealing is the ability to explore. Although your dorm and the school serve as a central base, Luenna also encourages players to travel through a larger world and discover dangers. Currently, Luenna is planned for release on PC, but the developers hope to also bring it to the Nintendo Switch.
Adding higher stakes makes Luenna: School of the Magi more engaging, but combining serious tension with relaxing gameplay can be tricky. Luckily, Luenna seems to be handling it well. You’ll be able to find the game on Steam when it releases.
