Hitman 4 Officially Confirmed By IO Interactive

IO Interactive has announced they are making a new game in the James Bond series, exciting fans who have been hoping for one. CEO Hakan Abrak discussed the company’s work on the Bond franchise and their plans for taking on more licensed games in the future.

We typically develop all our game content ourselves, but Bond is the one exception – it’s the only licensed property we’re currently using. Abrak added that they likely won’t work with any other external, non-original content in the future.

After 25 years of dreaming about being a spy and working on the 007 concept, it all clicked. It was a perfect fit, really. But Hitman has always been our most important game, the one we’ve always been passionate about throughout IO Interactive’s history,” Abrak explained. “So you can expect to see more Hitman games in the future.”

We’re focused on finishing out this year, and next year we’ll share more details about co-op in Hitman. We believe co-op will be a great addition to the game world, offering exciting new ways to play and combine strategies within World of Assassination. After that, we’ll start discussing the next Hitman game.

Hitman 3 Is Still Getting New Content

Even though Hitman 4 is confirmed to be in development, players of the latest game, Hitman 3, can still anticipate more new content being released.

The Hitman video game series started in 2000 with Hitman: Codename 47. Created by IO Interactive and published by Eidos Interactive, the game initially had a few technical problems and unusual controls, but critics still gave it very positive reviews.

Since the original game, eight more core Hitman titles have been released, along with many spin-offs – including updated versions, mobile games, and puzzle games. A new Hitman game launched in 2016, starting the World of Assassination trilogy. The last game in the trilogy quickly became the most popular in the entire series.

Fans of the Hitman series are currently exploring the newest season, Eminem vs. Slim Shady. According to IO Interactive, this season features a special Elusive Target mission with the iconic rapper Eminem playing a dual role – both as himself and his alter ego, Slim Shady. The mission is described as incredibly challenging and takes place in a redesigned Hokkaido location with a surreal atmosphere.

The newest season of World of Assassination began on December 1st and will continue through the end of the month. After the Eminem vs. Slim Shady season, players can anticipate The Splitter season, running from December 31st to February 22nd, and starring action movie icon Jean-Claude Van Damme.
