An exciting Dexter series is finally returning for its third season next week.
Following the controversial ending of Dexter in 2013, Showtime brought the crime series back with New Blood in 2021, and it proved to be a hit. This success led to several new installments, including the short-lived prequel Dexter: Original Sin, the popular sequel series Dexter: Resurrection, and companion content like the video podcasts Dexter: Final Cut and Dexter’s Kill Room.
While fans eagerly await the second season of Dexter: Resurrection, Paramount is keeping the excitement going with new content. They’ve announced that season 3 of Dexter’s Kill Room will debut on Thursday, August 6th at 9 a.m. Pacific Time / 12 p.m. Eastern Time. This video podcast series will feature cast members from both the original Dexter series and the new sequel, as they discuss and analyze memorable moments from the entire franchise, with new episodes released every Thursday on YouTube.
Paramount has announced that Julie Benz, who played Rita Morgan on the original Dexter, and Erik King, who played Sergeant James Doakes, will host season 3 of Dexter’s Kill Room. Joining them will be Eric Stonestreet from Resurrection, and Krysten Ritter, who will reprise her role as serial killer Mia LaPierre in season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection.
The first two seasons of Dexter’s Kill Room each had six episodes lasting around 15 to 20 minutes. Season 3 is also planned to have six episodes, and if the pattern continues, the final episode should be available on YouTube around September 10th.
Season 3 of Dexter’s Kill Room is launching around the same time that filming is well underway on Season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection in New York City. Production for the second season began in mid-April, and Paramount+ plans to release it in 2026. While a specific date hasn’t been announced, the showrunner, Clyde Philips, has suggested an October 2026 premiere.
As a huge fan of Dexter: Resurrection, I’m getting seriously excited about the cast they’re assembling for season two! It looks like they’re aiming to make it even bigger than the first season. Of course, Michael C. Hall is back as Dexter himself, and we’ll also see Jack Alcott, James Remar, Uma Thurman, Kadia Saraf, Dominic Fumusa, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine, Desmond Harrington, and Krysten Ritter reprise their roles. But what’s really got me hyped are the new faces: Dan Stevens, Brian Cox, and Gabriel Luna are joining as fellow serial killers which sounds amazing! Plus, Bokeem Woodbine and Nona Parker Johnson will be playing members of the NYPD, adding even more depth to the story.
We don’t have a confirmed release date for season 2 of Dexter: Resurrection yet, but Paramount is keeping fans engaged with new content featuring familiar faces discussing memorable moments from the show. Although Paramount hasn’t officially renewed the show for season 3, this current season promises plenty more iconic scenes that the cast can break down and explore in the companion series.
