Netflix’s new mystery-thriller, His & Hers, is based on the popular 2020 novel by Alice Feeney. The six-part series arrives January 8, 2026, and promises plenty of twists and turns as it unravels hidden secrets and explores the painful pasts of its main characters.
The story revolves around Anna and Jack, a divorced couple. Anna used to be a news anchor, and Jack is a detective. When a brutal murder happens in their town, Dahlonega, they’re forced to work together on the case, which stirs up old feelings and complicates their personal history.

I first really noticed Tessa Thompson when she played Samantha White in Dear White People – it was such a standout performance and really put her on the map. But she’s been consistently great since then, with major roles in Creed and, of course, as Valkyrie in the Marvel movies, including Avengers: Endgame. It was awesome to see her get a Golden Globes nomination in 2026 for her work in Nia DaCosta’s Hedda, too – she truly deserves all the recognition.

I’ve always been fascinated by complex characters, and Jack Harper is definitely one of them. He’s Anna’s ex-husband, a detective who’s seen better days. After losing his job down in Atlanta, he heads back to his hometown of Dahlonega, only to get pulled into a murder case involving someone he used to know. It’s a classic setup, but I think it has a lot of potential.

Marin Ireland, who you might recognize from The Umbrella Academy as Sissy Cooper, plays Zoe in this series. Zoe is Jack’s sister – a somewhat unenthusiastic single mom who’s allowing Jack to stay with her and her young daughter, Meg.
Ellie Rose Sawyer as Meg: Zoe’s daughter, Meg, is being played by newcomer Ellie Rose Sawyer.
Poppy Liu, known for her role in Hacks, will appear in His & Hers as the principal of the town’s prestigious all-girls school. Her character, Helen Wang, was a friend of Anna’s back in high school.
James Tisdale, recognizable from From Dusk Til Dawn: The Series, plays the role of the initial victim who sets the story in motion.
Chris Bauer, known for his role as Andy Bellefleur in True Blood, will appear in His & Hers as Clyde Duffie, Rachel’s husband.
Let me tell you, Rhoda Griffis is fantastic as Dr. Carol Turner in this show. You might recognize her from Fear the Walking Dead where she played Viv, but here, she’s the town pathologist and really gets into the nitty-gritty of the investigation with ‘His & Hers.’ She brings a real groundedness to the role, and I was completely captivated by her performance.
