‘Highlander’ Images Reveal New Look at Henry Cavill’s Immortal Hero

New photos show Cavill looking every bit the action hero, portraying a serious and determined character as he searches for something called “The Prize” on the streets of London.

A reboot of the movie Highlander has been in development for over a decade, leading many to wonder if it would ever actually be made. The project started way back in 2008, with Ryan Reynolds of Deadpool initially considered for the main role. Several attempts to revive the film throughout the 2010s failed, but in 2021, Henry Cavill was cast as the lead. Notably, Cavill’s character appears heavily scarred, suggesting he’s already sustained significant injuries before the events that grant him his immortality and healing abilities.

Henry Cavill is perfectly cast as the lead in a potential Highlander remake. He embodies the look fans would expect, sporting a long, flowing leather coat, though he’s missing the iconic sunglasses. Having proven his ability to play strong, heroic roles in Superman, The Witcher, and other action films, this project could give Cavill the leading role he needs, especially after a major franchise was canceled and he stepped away from another.

The new Highlander film is directed by Chad Stahelski, known for John Wick, and written by Kerry Williamson and Mike Finch. It boasts a star-studded cast, bringing together Henry Cavill with former colleagues like Russell Crowe (who previously co-starred with Cavill in Man of Steel and will play a mentor role similar to Sean Connery’s in the original film) and Jeremy Irons (expected to portray a member of ‘The Watchers,’ a group from Highlander: The Series that monitors immortals). Amazon MGM Studios plans to release a new version of Highlander, though a specific date hasn’t been announced yet. While details are still under wraps, the reboot is likely to follow the storyline of the 1986 film. Leaked information suggests Connor MacLeod, an immortal warrior, has been living a peaceful life but is drawn back into conflict when the dangerous Kurgan returns, supported by a group seeking the key to immortality. This forces Connor to fight, as only one immortal can ultimately remain.
