Harry is heading to Hogwarts sooner than expected.
Franchises like Star Wars, Marvel, and Dune are some of the most famous in film history. The world of Harry Potter is definitely among them, with eight movies that were both critically acclaimed and hugely successful at the box office. Following the original Harry Potter films, a series of three Fantastic Beasts movies were also released.
With the Harry Potter films making less money recently, Warner Bros. Discovery is now creating a new HBO series to keep the franchise going. This series will allow the creators to include story details that couldn’t fit into the movies. The release date for the new Harry Potter series has now been announced.
HBO is bringing the Harry Potter books to life in a new series debuting this Christmas on both HBO and HBO Max. The first season will be based on the first book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, and will have eight episodes. HBO has also just released a first look at the series with a new trailer.
The first trailer for the new Harry Potter series on HBO offers familiar sights for movie fans, but also includes some unexpected twists and new designs that promise a unique experience. We get our first glimpse of beloved characters like Harry, Ron, Hermione, Dumbledore, and Hagrid in action.
Originally, HBO planned to release the Harry Potter series in early 2027, according to HBO’s CEO, Casey Bloys. But those plans have shifted – and fans will likely be pleased with the change. The timing of the trailer and release date announcement coincides with the launch of HBO Max in the UK and Ireland tomorrow, March 26.
The new Happy Potter series will see Harry confront a foe from his past. The story begins when 11-year-old Harry receives an acceptance letter to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, launching him into a world of magic and adventure. J.K. Rowling, author of the original Happy Potter books, is an executive producer, and Francesca Gardiner (known for her work on Succession) is the showrunner.
HBO plans to create a TV series adapting all seven Harry Potter books over the next ten years. Now that the first trailer and release date are available, everyone’s wondering who will play Voldemort, the iconic villain. While actors like Cillian Murphy have been mentioned, the casting for this crucial role is still a mystery.
