The fourth season has been significantly updated. Originally planned to be set in the world of Downton Abbey, the show has announced four new cast members and revealed a brief summary of what viewers can expect next season.
Jim Gaffigan, Dallas Roberts, Elizabeth Marvel, and Andrew Burnap will appear as guest stars in Season 4 of The Gilded Age. Kelley Curran, who has been part of the show as Enid “Turner” Winterton since the beginning, will now be a series regular.
Who Are the New Gilded Age Additions Playing?
Jim Gaffigan and Robert Sean Leonard will play historical figures in season four of The Gilded Age. Gaffigan will portray Grover Cleveland, the 22nd U.S. President, and Leonard will play Daniel Manning, who served as Treasury Secretary under President Cleveland. The story will bring President Cleveland to New York as he seeks support from the city’s wealthy and powerful families.
For Marvel, Louisa Jacobson will play Virginia Saville, a compassionate nurse working at a community center in New York City’s Lower East Side. Meanwhile, Burn Gorman will be Porter, a wealthy and well-educated young man from a prominent family who’s looking for investment opportunities.
The show will once again feature Carrie Coon, Morgan Spector, Louisa Jacobson, Denee Benton, Cynthia Nixon, Christine Baranski, Harry Richardson, Blake Ritson, Taissa Farmiga, Audra McDonald, and other familiar faces.
The Gilded Age Season 4 Plot Revealed
The official description for Season 4 of The Gilded Age reveals that Bertha Russell’s efforts to shake up New York society came with a price. Now, her family will face the repercussions, while Agnes van Rhijn sees a chance to reclaim her own status.
I’m really intrigued by Marian’s story! It sounds like she’s starting over, trying to build a life for herself and also win over her future family. The logline ends with a warning though – it makes me think things aren’t going to be easy for her, and that you have to be careful what you wish for. It’s got me hooked!
Julian Fellowes created The Gilded Age. Originally, the show was planned as a prequel to his popular series Downton Abbey, focusing on the love story of Lord and Lady Grantham and how they met and got married.
At first, there was talk of linking The Gilded Age to Downton Abbey, which as a huge fan of both, I was really excited about! But as the show took shape, the creators decided to tell their own story, completely separate from Downton. They haven’t ruled out connecting the two universes eventually, though, which still gives me hope!
Set in 1880s New York City, The Gilded Age centers on Marian Brook as she navigates the clash between old and new money families – the established van Rhijn-Brooks and the newly wealthy Russells. This historical drama is a collaboration between HBO and Universal Television.
I’m so excited that all three seasons of The Gilded Age are available to stream on HBO Max! We’re all eagerly waiting for news about when season four will be released, but HBO hasn’t announced a date yet.
