A new series coming to HBO Max in 2027 is already getting attention, and its lead actor is receiving surprisingly positive feedback from none other than Daniel Radcliffe, who famously played Harry Potter in the original films starting in 2001.
Before the new Harry Potter TV show begins, the young actor playing Harry Potter received a letter from Daniel Radcliffe. McLaughlin explained he was given the letter while traveling home to Glasgow by train.
McLaughlin described the experience as “insane” during an interview on BBC’s Saturday Mash-Up! Live. He explained that his dad handed him a letter on the train. When he finished reading it, he saw the initials ‘Dan R.’ at the bottom. He was incredibly excited but had to remain calm because he was in public on the train.
In the same interview, McLaughlin briefly discussed how filming the new Harry Potter series is coming along. He said it’s going incredibly well and that he’s enjoying working with the cast and crew, having made good friends with everyone involved.
Last month, Daniel Radcliffe shared that he wrote a letter to the new actor playing Harry Potter. He said seeing them reminds him of how young he was when he first took on the role, and he feels a strong desire to support them. He hopes the new actor is enjoying the experience as much as he did.
Rowling Visited the Set of the New Show
J.K. Rowling has given the new HBO Max Harry Potter series her approval after visiting the set on November 19th. Sources say she checked on how the adaptation was coming along. Filming is taking place at Warner Bros. Studios in Leavesden and various locations around the UK. Rowling’s visit was described as a major event, with key members of the production team making time to meet with her. She is also an executive producer on the show.
The author recently shared her excitement about the upcoming HBO Harry Potter series. She revealed she’s seen the first two episodes and thought they were fantastic! She also mentioned she collaborated with the show’s writers, praising their talent.
