Fans of Harry Potter will fondly recall Norbert (later revealed to be Norberta), the cute dragon that Hagrid won in a card game in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. This Norwegian Ridgeback quickly became too big for Hagrid’s hut, so he sent it to Romania with Charlie Weasley. However, Norbert left a lasting impression on readers and viewers of the series.
As part of the continuing 25 Years of Magic celebration in Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery, players will have another chance to encounter Norbert.
Released in 2018 for Android and iOS, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is a role-playing game where you can experience life as a student at Hogwarts. You’ll encounter familiar characters like Albus Dumbledore, Severus Snape, and Hagrid, and can learn magic, play Quidditch, compete with others, and even build relationships. The game continues to be popular thanks to ongoing updates, and on July 29th, it will introduce a special preview of Norbert’s Transport Beyond. This update features Hagrid and his dragon Norbert, and will allow players to explore areas outside of Hogwarts for the first time.
On July 1st, Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery launched its “Summer of Mystery” event. This allowed players to experience scenes inspired by Harry Potter’s first year at Hogwarts, as seen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.
Jam City, the game developers, announced these new stories are full of excitement, featuring everything from hidden truths that blur the line between magic and the non-magical world, to assisting a favorite Hogwarts teacher and a daring adventure with dragons. Players can expect mystery, new discoveries, and memorable characters.
As July ends, there’s plenty to be excited about! Today brings the Norbert’s Transport Beyond Special Preview, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery is hosting a ’25 Years of Magic’ Sweepstakes to celebrate Harry Potter’s birthday.
