Gillian Anderson, known for her roles in popular shows, is starring in her first horror film. New photos offer a glimpse of the frightening scenes fans can expect when the movie comes out.
Gillian Anderson has enjoyed a remarkable career for over thirty years, playing memorable characters in popular shows like The X-Files, The Fall, Sex Education, and The Crown. She’s also a celebrated stage actress, with numerous Laurence Olivier Award nominations for productions including A Doll’s House, A Streetcar Named Desire, and All About Eve, both in London’s West End and on Broadway.

MUBI has shared a first look at its new horror film, Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which will hit theaters on August 7th. The film is directed and written by Jane Schoenbrun, who previously made I Saw the TV Glow and We’re All Going to the World’s Fair. According to MUBI, Camp Miasma will continue Schoenbrun’s exploration of trans identity and queer themes within the horror genre.
The Camp Miasma horror series, once popular but recently struggling with poorly made sequels, gets a fresh start with a new, energetic director. When she seeks out the original film’s star – a famous actress who has since withdrawn from public life and become something of a mystery – they both find themselves drawn into a terrifying and twisted world of obsession, dread, and madness.
The upcoming horror film features a cast including Anderson, Hannah Einbinder, Patrick Fischler, Hunter Dillon, Quintessa Swindell, Jordana Summer, Ryan McEwen, Willy McGee, and Nikki Bryce. It will be available in North and South America, the UK, Ireland, Germany, Austria, Benelux countries, Spain, Italy, Turkey, India, Australia, and New Zealand.
It’s currently unknown what Anderson’s character will be called in the film. However, details suggest she’ll play a famous, reclusive actress who’s stepped away from her career. This will be Anderson’s first horror film, a new challenge for the established actress. Her co-star, Einbinder, who is known for playing Ava Daniels in the show Hacks, will play one of the two women facing danger in the movie.
Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma will be released on August 7 in theaters.
