Ghosts Is Revisiting Trevor’s Holiday Hookup In The Midseason Premiere, And I Need Hetty’s Reaction ASAP

The major networks like NBC, ABC, and Fox have already launched their fall TV lineups, but CBS is still gearing up for new shows and returning favorites. Fans are eagerly awaiting the premiere of the long-awaited CIA and the return of FBI, which will feature a beloved guest star. Ghosts left viewers on a cliffhanger last fall with the introduction of “The Others,” and we now have a sneak peek at the new season’s first episode. It will revisit a popular storyline with Trevor, but this time with a new character, and I’m especially excited to see how Hetty reacts.

The fifth season of Ghosts returns mid-season with an episode titled “The Others.” It seems the story will continue directly from where it ended in December’s finale. Here’s what CBS says about the episode:

Sam and the ghosts confront The Others, a mysterious group of spirits connected to one of their own. At the same time, Trevor struggles with Patience, who wants a serious relationship after their brief connection during the holidays.

As expected, CBS kept the secrets of ‘The Others’ and their connection to someone in Woodstone under wraps before the mid-season premiere. However, it seems Trevor wasn’t able to completely move on from Patience by the end of the Season 5 Christmas episode. Interestingly, some details from the episode description also fit what happened with Trevor after he got together with Hetty in the Season 2 Christmas episode. You can watch both of these holiday episodes now with a Paramount+ subscription.

The rest of the storyline is quite different, and I suspect it will be very funny. I already laughed a lot when we found out Trevor is attracted to older, assertive women – specifically, Patience, who’s over a century older than him. As a fan of both Trevor and Hetty, I’m eager to see how she reacts, assuming the episode isn’t too crowded for her to have a moment.

Trevor has a pattern of getting involved with strong-willed women, starting with a brief encounter around Christmas – this happened in both Seasons 2 and 5. In Season 2, Trevor was the one hoping for a serious relationship with Hetty, but now it seems Patience is the one looking for something lasting with him. The relationship between Trevor and Hetty was surprisingly charming because they were an unlikely pair, and a dynamic between Trevor and Patience could be amusing too, but perhaps as a contrasting pairing rather than a repeat of the Hetty situation.

Both Hetty and Patience offer comedic potential as unlikely romantic matches for Trevor. Hetty was his first ghostly love, and Rebecca Wisocky recently discussed the enjoyable dynamic between her character and Trevor. I became a fan of Hetty and Trevor after watching the whole series, and both Wisocky and Asher Grodman have great chemistry on screen. Adding Mary Holland as Patience creates a recipe for hilarious scenes – especially considering Hetty’s unpredictable nature!

I’m really hoping we get to see Hetty’s reaction to the developing relationship between Trevor and Patience – or anyone’s reaction, actually! This storyline has a lot of comedic potential.
