Ghost Rider’s MCU Debut Gets Heartbreaking Update for Marvel Fans

Ghost Rider fans are in for some disappointment when it comes to the latest MCU update.

For years, fans have speculated about when Ghost Rider might appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Ryan Gosling is a popular choice among fans for who should play the character, but some would also love to see Nicolas Cage return to the role. Cage previously played Ghost Rider in the 2007 film and its 2012 sequel, Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Online, fans are speculating that Ghost Rider might appear in one of the upcoming Avengers movies, either ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ which comes out later this year, or ‘Avengers: Secret Wars,’ scheduled for 2027.

What is the update on Ghost Rider’s MCU debut?

However, according to insider Daniel Richtman, fans shouldn’t expect Ghost Rider to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday film. While Marvel considered actors for the role at one point, it seems those plans have changed.

It’s unclear what this means for the future of Ghost Rider in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Marvel might still be searching for an actor, they could have temporarily stopped the search, or they may have already cast someone and are keeping it a secret. The recent report doesn’t mention the upcoming ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ movie, so it’s still possible Ghost Rider could appear in it, but that’s not confirmed.

Besides Nicolas Cage, Gabriel Luna also portrayed Ghost Rider in season four of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ghost Rider was originally created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, and Mike Ploog, and first appeared in Marvel Spotlight #5 back in 1972.

The next Avengers movie, titled ‘Doomsday’, is scheduled to release on December 18, 2026. ‘Secret Wars’, another Avengers film, will follow on December 17, 2027.
