Gerard Butler has slammed the breaks on Plane 2.
The 2023 action thriller Plane delivers exactly what you’d expect: a fast-paced story about a plane and a pilot with a military background, played by Gerard Butler. The movie was successful, and a follow-up film is now in the works, centering around the character of Louise Gaspare, played by Mike Colter.
So, I was just reading an interview with Colter over at The Direct, and he pretty much confirmed that Plane 2 isn’t happening. Apparently, the sequel fell apart because Gerard Butler, who was set to produce it (not actually star in it), backed out just weeks before they were supposed to start filming. Here’s what Colter had to say about it…
Gerard Butler unexpectedly decided not to participate in the project very close to the start date. There wasn’t much conversation about it – he simply withdrew two weeks before it was supposed to begin, leaving us scrambling to find a solution. Ultimately, the project fell apart.
More to come…
