Cipher’s powers in Gen V Season 2 Episode 4’s ending explained
After much anticipation, Gen V Season 2 Episode 4, titled “Bags,” reveals the abilities of the mysterious organization, Cipher.
The episode concludes with the shocking reveal that Cipher can control people’s minds. While the full scope of his abilities remains a mystery, it’s clear he’s a formidable opponent. This power was demonstrated during a fight between Marie and Jordan, where Cipher manipulated Jordan, ultimately pushing Marie to develop her own abilities further.
The trouble started when Cipher made Jordan and Marie fight each other in front of everyone, and threatened to punish Emma if they didn’t comply. Reluctantly, Jordan and Marie joined forces with Cate to investigate a mystery hidden within the dean’s house. At the same time, Emma teamed up with her new friends, the Starlighters, to try and stop the fight from happening.
As Jordan and Cate sneak into Cipher’s house to find out what he’s hiding, Marie distracts him by pretending she wants his help with training. Later, when they regroup, Marie suggests Cipher might not have any superpowers, claiming she can’t detect Compound V in his system. She intends to reveal this during their upcoming match and asks Cate to try and get Cipher to admit the truth.
During the game, Emma secretly sets up a camera hoping to catch Cipher admitting his wrongdoing. However, their plan fails. When Cate challenges Cipher, he demonstrates his abilities by controlling Jordan and forcing her to use her powers against Marie. The episode concludes with the unsettling feeling that the dean poses an even greater danger than previously thought. Earlier in the episode, viewers also learn that Marie might actually be more powerful than Homelander.
