The second season of Gen V revealed how the character Andre Anderson met his end. This storyline was written following the unexpected passing of Chance Perdomo, the actor who portrayed Andre in the first season.
After the actor tragically died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024, right as filming for Season 2 was beginning, the team behind *Gen V* announced they would rewrite the season’s storyline instead of replacing his character with a new actor.
The first episode of Season 2 initially presents a blurry account of how Andre died. We learn this through Cate Dunlap (Maddie Phillips) as she accesses Jordan Li’s (London Thor/Derek Luh) memories, experiencing the event firsthand. The scene includes indistinct flashes of energy – probably connected to Andre’s magnetic abilities – and desperate cries for him to cease what he’s doing.
At the end of the latest episode, it really hit me – Jordan delved deeper into what Andre thought about Marie Moreau’s escape from Elmira. He genuinely saw her getting out as proof that a way to freedom actually existed, which was a powerful moment.
He came up with a plan to escape with Jordan and Emma Meyer (Lizzie Broadway), since Marie had already gotten away. However, the metal pipe he intended to use was blocked by a wall. Andre then attempted to open a large steel door using his powers, but wasn’t strong enough. He continued to try, ultimately collapsing and dying in the effort.
It’s not until the second episode of *Gen V* Season 2, titled “Justice Never Forgets,” that Marie-and the viewers-discover there’s more to what they thought they knew.
How Andre Got Killed Trying to Escape Elmira In Gen V
I was so excited to see Marie back at Godolkin University, and she finally got to meet the new dean, a man named Cipher – Hamish Linklater plays him, and he seems fascinating. I’m really curious to see how their interactions will unfold.
He wouldn’t say much about his own background, but students who’d been at Elmira identified him as someone they knew from there. Because of his time at Elmira, he seemed to have unique knowledge about Andre’s death – and he was keen to tell Marie everything he knew.
Both Andre and his father, Polarity, shared a health issue where using their powers made their condition get progressively worse.
Cipher told Andre to expect symptoms like shaking and headaches, and that Andre probably understood these would occur if he tried to open the steel door. Later, Jordan reached a similar conclusion, comparing the attempt to escape to a suicidal act.
It’s still a mystery why Cipher, who is usually so secretive and distrustful, readily shared this information with Marie. This is even more puzzling considering he later confirmed the details with Polarity, suggesting he was being honest.
The first three episodes of Gen V Season 2 are available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
