The author acknowledged the ongoing discussion about the delay of ‘Winds of Winter,’ explaining that they’ve historically struggled to meet deadlines. They also expressed discomfort with breaking agreements or failing to deliver on time.
Martin reaffirmed his fondness for the books that inspired Game of Thrones, saying he still enjoys and is actively working on *Winds of Winter*. However, he also emphasized his enthusiasm for his other projects, like *Wild Cards* and the AMC series *Dark Winds*, explaining that he’s equally passionate about them.
George R.R. Martin has released five books in his popular A Song of Ice and Fire series, the most recent being A Dance with Dragons, published in 2011. He hasn’t made much progress on the last two books since then, focusing instead on the television shows based on his stories.
