The new movie, Freakier Friday, is coming to Disney+. It’s a follow-up to the 2003 film Freaky Friday, and brings back Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis as Anna and Tess Coleman. This time, instead of just the two of them switching bodies, it’s a four-way swap involving Anna’s daughter, Harper, and her future stepdaughter, Lily. The story picks up 22 years after the original body swap.
Critics generally liked Freakier Friday, highlighting its humor, touching story, and the strong performances from Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis. The movie earned $153 million globally after opening in theaters on August 8th, and has been available to rent or buy digitally since October 7th.
Disney+ will be streaming Freakier Friday starting November 12th! To celebrate, a new trailer has been released showcasing positive reviews and high ratings from both critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. The trailer also suggests watching the movie with your mom or daughter. You can find the trailer below.
Starting November 12th, the latest version of Freaky Friday will be available to stream on Disney+. Fans can also enjoy previous versions of the film, including the 2003 movie with Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, the 1970s film starring Jodie Foster, and the 2018 Disney Channel musical version, all on the platform.
In addition to Lindsay Lohan and Jamie Lee Curtis, Freakier Friday brings back familiar faces from the 2003 film, including Mark Harmon as Ryan Volvo, Chad Michael Murray as Jake Austin, and Ryan Malgarini as Jake Coleman. Joining the cast is Manny Jacinto, known for The Good Place and Star Wars: The Acolyte, who plays Lily’s father, Eric Reyes, and becomes Anna’s fiancé.
Although a third Freaky Friday movie isn’t officially in the works, a successful performance of the 2025 Disney+ film could increase the chances of it happening. The director of Freakier Friday, Nisha Ganatra, has hinted at an even more elaborate plot – a six-person body swap involving characters from both films, potentially leading to a very funny continuation of the series.
Even if there isn’t a sequel, Freakier Friday is expected to be popular on Disney+. Because it’s rated PG, the whole family can enjoy this movie, which blends a classic story with a fresh, modern twist.
