Yesterday, online rumors started suggesting that Jordan Peele might direct a future Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film. Even Jordan’s own production company, MonkeyPaw Productions, acknowledged the buzz. Fans quickly began guessing which movie Peele could be involved with, and many are excited by the possibility of him being the one to successfully reboot or revive a particular character or storyline.
Jordan Peele has directed some of the most memorable horror films of recent years, like Get Out and Us. Many fans are hoping he’ll take on a superhero project, specifically directing the live-action introduction of the Daywalker in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, even though he’s turned down the opportunity before. It’s a challenge that many other directors have struggled with, and fans would be thrilled to see Peele succeed.
Fans on X are excited about the possibility of Jordan Peele directing the upcoming Blade movie. @actorkasim believes Peele’s style would give the film a darker, more realistic feel, and thinks it could be great if Marvel gives him creative freedom. @Mandevil23 simply urged Marvel to let Peele direct, while @BatKilmer expressed that the idea of Peele directing Blade after the ‘Secret Wars’ film sounds almost too good to be true.
‘Blade’ Has Been One of Marvel’s Most Troubled Productions

It’s been six years since Jordan Peele decided not to direct the Marvel film Blade. This was back in 2019 when the movie was first announced at San Diego Comic-Con. Mahershala Ali is still involved, but he’s practically the only original cast or crew member remaining on the project.
The movie has gone through several changes since 2021. Stacy Osei-Kuffour initially wrote the script, but was later replaced by Michael Green in 2023, and then by Eric Pearson in 2024. The original director, Bassam Tariq, left in 2022, and Yann Demange briefly took over in 2024 before also departing. As of July 2025, Mia Goth had joined the cast, the filming schedule had been repeatedly delayed, and the movie was undergoing major revisions, including a shift to a more contemporary setting.
The most surprising thing about the upcoming Blade movie is how Mahershala Ali has remained attached to the project for so long without any real progress being made. Ali skillfully dodged questions about it while promoting Jurassic World Rebirth, and has stated he hasn’t heard much about what’s happening with the film, preferring to simply ‘take things as they come’.

Adding to the current challenges, Wesley Snipes, the original Blade, made a cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine and playfully asserted that he is, and always will be, the one and only Blade. While intended as a joke, this moment now feels surprisingly accurate. Currently, it seems more likely that there will only ever be one Blade than that the new Blade movie will succeed.
