‘Faith: The Unholy Trinity’ Film in the Works Based on Viral Video Game Trilogy

The lines between online content creation and traditional entertainment are blurring more than ever, as influencers and creators from platforms like YouTube increasingly move into filmmaking. A great example is Markiplier, a YouTuber who recently released the movie Iron Lung, a video game adaptation, which he funded through crowdfunding and released independently, leveraging his decade-long fanbase. Now, another online creator is following suit, launching a new production company and planning to adapt several projects and video games into films.

Content creator Alanah Pearce is launching a new production company called Charred Pictures, as reported by Variety. The company will specialize in adapting video games into films and TV shows, with a key focus on involving the original game developers in the creative process. Charred Pictures already has several projects underway, including two films based on popular game franchises in early pre-production and an original film that has already been completed. Pearce aims to give game developers more creative control and input when their games are adapted for the screen.

Charred Pictures, a new production company, is adapting the video game series Faith: The Unholy Trinity into a movie. The film, currently in pre-production, will be based on the survival horror games, with a script written by Pearce. Brandon Salisbury, who directed George A. Romero’s Resident Evil, is on board as the director. Airdorf Games, the original game developers, will also be executive producers, aligning with Charred Pictures’ goals.

A new movie is in the works about a young priest battling demons, cults, and a crisis of faith during the 1980s Satanic Panic. Another project, Dead Take, will be based on the 2025 horror game of the same name, created by Abubakar Salim, known for his role in House of the Dragon. According to Variety, Dead Take delves into the dark side of Hollywood and how far people will go for stardom. The filmmakers are committed to working closely with the game developers to ensure the movies stay true to the original stories and maintain their creative vision.

The finished film, titled Godmother, has already completed filming. Written by Pearce and John Vernon, the story follows Theo (Paige Evans) and her boyfriend Colby (Cameron Cuffe) on a romantic getaway to the High Desert. Their plans take an unexpected turn when they meet a seemingly friendly, but strange, couple of retirees, played by Dee Wallace and Bruce Davison. This film marks a strong debut for Charred Pictures, and it will be interesting to see if their approach to adapting video games – similar to their success with Iron Lung – continues to pay off.
