‘Excuse Me While I Spiral.’ Candace Cameron Bure Gets Candid About Being Asked To Edit Her Neck For New Role

Time keeps moving forward, and while we all know that, getting older isn’t always simple. Recently, there’s been a lot of talk about aging in Hollywood. Demi Moore has described it as a wonderful thing, and Halle Berry demonstrates that age is just a number. However, Candace Cameron Bure shared a more difficult experience, recalling a time she felt deeply upset after being told her appearance needed to be altered for a role.

Candace Cameron Bure will star in the Great American Family Christmas movie *Timeless Tidings of Joy*, airing in 2025. The movie includes a scene showing her character as a teenager, but Bure shared on her podcast that post-production editing was used to make her look about 30 years old for that flashback. She explained how the process worked:

The doctor explained they would focus on my forehead, the wrinkles around my eyes and mouth, and smile lines, which sounded good to me. Then he added they’d also work on my neck, and I was surprised. I asked him if he really thought my neck needed treatment.

Candace Cameron Bure realized she hadn’t considered how the neck area changes with age, something she now acknowledges as a sign of getting older. She went on to say:

I never realized my neck looked older, or that it had aged at all. It hadn’t even crossed my mind. So when he said he was going to address it, I immediately thought, ‘Here we go, I need to start therapy again!’

Candace Cameron Bure shared this podcast clip to Instagram with the dramatic caption:

I can definitely see why she reacted that way. Candace Cameron Bure has faced criticism about her appearance ever since she was a young actress on *Full House*. So, having someone comment on your body in a way you hadn’t thought about before would be really upsetting.

I’m so frustrated for her! She’s talked about getting awful comments about her body for years, and even after all this time, it still really gets to her. It’s just awful that she had to take down a swimsuit photo because of all the hateful things people were saying. It’s not okay that she has to deal with that kind of negativity.

On top of the online negativity she already faces, Candace Cameron Bure is now dealing with comments about her appearance, specifically noticing changes to her neck. It’s understandable why that would be upsetting. I appreciate her openness about her insecurities, though – it likely makes her more approachable and relatable to her fans.

Everyone gets older, and it’s funny-but also a little sad-how some changes happen without us realizing it. This holiday season, be sure to check out Candace Cameron Bure’s work, and you can also revisit her early role in *Full House*, which is available on Hulu.
