The box office typically slows down in January and February, but things are starting to improve in March with more movies being released. This month, horror fans have several exciting new options, and there’s also a new Pixar film, a sci-fi movie with Ryan Gosling, and some romantic dramas. No matter what kind of movies you enjoy, there’s plenty to choose from at the theater!
Here are our picks for the must-see movies hitting theaters in March 2026. You’ll also find a full schedule of all movie release dates below.
‘Hoppers’
In Theaters March 6, 2026
Pixar’s latest family film is generating a lot of excitement! It tells the story of Mabel Tanaka, a smart scientist who loves animals. She invents a way to put her brain into a robotic beaver so she can experience the animal world firsthand. But she quickly gets caught up in the complicated lives of animals and ends up trying to protect their habitat from being destroyed.
Pixar’s upcoming film, Hoppers, is shaping up to be a feel-good movie with a surprisingly imaginative sci-fi premise. The studio is hoping this new story will remind audiences of its most creative and successful years. Critics who have seen early screenings are praising the film’s mix of humor, heart, and its positive message about the environment. Hoppers arrives in theaters on March 6, 2026.
‘The Bride!’
In Theaters March 6, 2026
I’m really excited about Maggie Gyllenhaal’s new film, The Bride! It’s a gothic, sci-fi romance with horror elements, set in 1930s Chicago, and seems like a fresh take on the classic Universal Monster stories. The story centers around Frankenstein’s Monster, who everyone’s calling ‘Frank,’ and his attempt to create a companion. He convinces a scientist, Dr. Euphronious, to bring a woman back to life, but it turns out his Bride has her own plans and isn’t just going to be what he expects. I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!
Blending punk, goth, and romantic styles, The Bride! offers a fresh and striking take on Mary Shelley’s classic story. Warner Bros. is so confident in the film that it will be released in IMAX. With a talented cast and a captivating trailer, The Bride! is already one of the most eagerly awaited movies of March, hitting theaters on March 6, 2026.
‘Undertone’
In Theaters March 13, 2026
Undertone is a horror experiment that uses sound as much as visuals to create a frightening experience. The story centers on Nina Kiri as Evy, a host of a podcast about the paranormal. When Evy and her co-host, Justin (Adam DiMarco), receive unsettling audio recordings from a couple haunted in their home, the events start to impact them personally. The film is intensely focused on Evy’s point of view and primarily takes place from her location, creating a claustrophobic and terrifying atmosphere.
Zachary Lee of MovieWeb believes Undertone could be the scariest movie of 2026. He praised the film’s ability to make both sound and visuals deeply unsettling, creating a draining yet captivating experience. As a new horror release from A24, Undertone is sure to excite fans of the genre. It hits theaters on March 13, 2026.
‘Reminders of Him’
In Theaters March 13, 2026
Adapted from the popular novel by Colleen Hoover – following the success of It Ends With Us (2024) and Regretting You (2025) – Reminders of Him is the romantic drama everyone will be talking about this March. The film centers on Kenna Rowan (Maika Monroe), who returns to her hometown after a tragic accident. She faces rejection from the community and is unable to see her daughter. As she begins a new relationship with Ledger Ward (Tyriq Withers), her life becomes increasingly complicated and emotionally charged.
Colleen Hoover’s popular novel, Reminders of Him, became a huge hit on BookTok, and readers have been eager to see it adapted for the screen. Now, a movie version is coming to theaters on March 13, 2026, and with Hoover herself helping to write the script, it’s expected to be a big success thanks to its dedicated fanbase.
‘Project Hail Mary’
In Theaters March 20, 2026
Starring Ryan Gosling, Project Hail Mary is a sci-fi adventure based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir, the author of The Martian. The story begins with Ryland Grace, a science teacher, waking up alone on a spaceship with no memory of who he is or how he got there. He soon discovers he’s on a critical mission to save Earth, and unexpectedly teams up with an alien to complete it.
Some fans have commented on the length of Project Hail Mary, but the team behind it has a strong history of success. Not only does the film star Ryan Gosling, but directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are known for hits like The Lego Movie and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The script is written by Drew Goddard, who also wrote the popular and well-received The Martian. Project Hail Mary will be released in theaters on March 20, 2026.
‘Ready or Not 2: Here I Come’
In Theaters March 20, 2026
The new horror film, Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, picks up right where the 2019 original left off. Grace MacCaullay (Samara Weaving), having survived a terrifying game of hide-and-seek, discovers that her sister, Faith (Kathryn Newton), is now being hunted by the same dangerous family. The sequel promises a bigger and more intense experience with familiar faces and the same filmmaking team behind the first film, making it a likely hit for fans of the original. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come arrives in theaters on March 20, 2026.
‘They Will Kill You’
In Theaters March 27, 2026
If you’re a horror fan like me, you absolutely need to check out Ready or Not 2: Here I Come when it hits theaters! And then, the very next week, get ready for even more craziness with They Will Kill You. I just heard about it, and it sounds wild: this woman, Colette – played by Zazie Beetz – takes what she thinks is a simple housekeeping job in a fancy New York City apartment building. Turns out, the people who live there are Satan worshippers and they want to sacrifice her! Seriously, it’s a non-stop, super bloody fight for her survival against everyone in the building. I’m already hooked!
They Will Kill You is a thrilling and entertaining movie that combines horror and action, delivering a lot of exciting chaos and bloodshed. It’s a polished, fast-paced survival story with a unique mix of intense violence and humor. You can see it in theaters starting March 27, 2026.
