Every Hero In Avengers: Doomsday, Ranked By Power

The upcoming superhero team-up movie, Avengers: Doomsday, is assembling a huge cast, but the heroes won’t all be equally powerful in the fight against Doctor Doom. While Marvel has kept much of the cast under wraps, 29 heroes have been officially confirmed for the film. This group includes classic Avengers like Thor and Captain America, as well as newer faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe like The Fantastic Four and the X-Men.

As a huge fan, I’m pretty sure Marvel is keeping some surprises up their sleeve – heroes like Deadpool, Doctor Strange, and Spider-Man could totally show up! But for this list, I’m only focusing on the heroes we know are confirmed, either through official announcements or because we’ve seen them in the trailers for Avengers: Doomsday. I’m also leaving out characters like Peggy Carter who are confirmed to be in the movie, but aren’t going to be fighting as superheroes just yet.

When evaluating the strength of Marvel Cinematic Universe heroes for the upcoming Doomsday project, their effectiveness against Doctor Doom is the main focus. Heroes who match up well against Doom – and won’t be easily defeated by him – will be favored. Similarly, heroes vulnerable to Doom’s strategic planning will be considered less suitable than those with a wider range of abilities in Avengers: Doomsday.

29. M’Baku

Currently, M’Baku, the king of Wakanda, appears to be the weakest hero in Avengers: Doomsday. Although he can call upon all of Wakanda’s resources and soldiers, M’Baku himself isn’t particularly powerful. He’s a skilled warrior, but without having taken the herb that gives Black Panther their abilities, he’s fundamentally a very capable human. His usual weapons—traditional close-combat tools—don’t give him much of an extra edge either.

28. Falcon

Joaquin Torres, the new Falcon introduced in Captain America: Brave New World, isn’t one of the strongest heroes in the Marvel Universe. While he’s probably not as skilled in hand-to-hand combat as M’Baku, his wings give him a significant advantage. Torres can fly at high speeds, use specialized goggles for long-range vision, and has extremely quick reflexes. He’s also well-equipped with modern weaponry like guns and rockets, putting his combat capabilities roughly on par with War Machine.

27. Yelena Belova

Yelena Belova is one of the most capable fighters among all the non-superpowered characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Her rigorous training in the Red Room has made her a highly skilled assassin and combatant. She’s also proficient with a variety of weapons, from electrified gauntlets and batons to almost any firearm she gets her hands on. Now that she’s joined the New Avengers, she’ll probably have access to even more advanced equipment, potentially preparing her for any major threat.

26. Captain America

Currently, Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, is the most capable hero in the MCU who doesn’t have superpowers. Unlike the original Captain America, Steve Rogers, Sam didn’t receive the super-soldier serum and remains a normal human. Despite this, he’s a highly experienced fighter, having served in the military and battled powerful enemies like Thanos and the Red Hulk alongside other Avengers. Plus, with his Falcon wings and Captain America’s vibranium shield, he’s still a formidable force.

25. Mystique

Mystique’s ability to shapeshift is versatile – as the Doomsday trailer shows, she can convincingly become anyone, even mimicking their fighting skills. While she’s also stronger and heals faster than a normal person, these abilities don’t make her a top-tier fighter. Mystique excels at trickery and disguise, making her powers more useful for deception than direct combat, and therefore, not among the most powerful heroes facing Doctor Doom.

24. Red Guardian

While several characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have received a super soldier serum, Red Guardian is noticeably the least powerful. He gained the same benefits as others – increased strength, toughness, stamina, and speed – but to a lesser degree, thanks to the Soviet version of the serum. Considering his age and physical condition, Alexei Shostakov is at the bottom of the list when it comes to super soldiers.

23. Ghost

Ghost isn’t one of the most powerful members of the New Avengers; she’s closer to the bottom in terms of overall strength. She’s a skilled fighter, comparable to someone like Yelena, and possesses enhanced strength and agility. Her defining ability is phasing – becoming able to pass through objects and turn invisible. While this gives her an advantage, a smart opponent like Doctor Doom would likely quickly learn how to counter it.

22. Cassie Lang

Ant-Man and his team, including his daughter Cassie, have access to incredibly advanced technology. Just like her dad, Cassie can change size – shrinking or growing to almost any extent – and becomes super strong as she does so. She’s also brilliantly intelligent, though because she hasn’t been a superhero for very long, she isn’t quite as skilled as Ant-Man yet. That experience will be crucial in the upcoming events of Doomsday.

21. U.S. Agent

John Walker, also known as U.S. Agent, is a powerful but flawed character. He’s demonstrated incredible abilities – like leaping vast distances and fighting hand-to-hand – in both The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and Thunderbolts. As a seasoned military veteran, he brings a lot of experience to the fight. However, Walker struggles with emotional control, and his inferior version of Captain America’s shield makes him a less formidable opponent.

20. Bucky Barnes

Bucky Barnes is among the most powerful enhanced individuals in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like other super-soldiers such as John Walker and Red Guardian, he possesses incredible strength and abilities, but he has an added advantage: a vibranium arm. This arm can stop bullets, further boosts his strength, and is incredibly durable. Plus, Bucky’s extensive experience as the Winter Soldier gives him a significant edge, allowing him to utilize his powers with greater skill than most.
