Over the years, many actors have appeared in the various NCIS shows, but Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo are definitely two of the most recognizable faces. They both spent a long time on NCIS and even returned as their characters, Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David, in the short-lived spinoff NCIS: Tony & Ziva. Interestingly, Mavournee Hazel, who stars in NCIS: Sydney, recently shared that even actors on other NCIS shows get excited when they meet franchise stars like Weatherly and de Pablo.
Last November, the main actors from Sydney – Olivia Swann, Todd Lasance, Sean Sagar, and Tuuli Narkle – met Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo while they were visiting Australia. However, Mavournee Hazel and William McInnes, who also star in NCIS: Sydney, weren’t there. When I recently spoke with Hazel about the show, including the history of her character, Bluebird Gleeson, I asked her why she hadn’t been at the photo shoot with Weatherly and de Pablo, and she explained:
I finally got to meet the cast, though Claude Jabbour and I were filming all day, which is why they had time for photos – we were working while they were available! We did manage to chat for a bit, and honestly, they were wonderful people. I’m really disappointed for the fans that the show won’t be continuing – I know the cast were hoping for another season too. But I’m already campaigning to get them over to NCIS: Sydney – they’d be a fantastic addition to the team!
It was unfortunate that Mavournee Hazel and Claude Jabbour (who will be appearing in Season 3 of NCIS: Sydney as Travis “Trigger” Riggs) couldn’t get a photo with Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo due to scheduling issues. Still, they did get to spend some time with the original NCIS stars, which was good. This is better than what happened to Mariel Molino from NCIS: Origins, who missed meeting Tom Cruise because she was napping during a filming break.

For $12.99 per month or $119.99 per year, the Paramount+ Premium plan gives you access to even more content. It combines everything from Paramount+ with all of Showtime’s original series and movies. If you’re a fan of the NCIS universe, this plan is definitely worth considering, and the yearly subscription works out to just $10 per month. Check out the deal here.
As we previously discussed, NCIS: Tony & Ziva was cancelled just a month after this photo shoot on the NCIS: Sydney set. While there’s speculation about why Paramount+ ended the series, many fans are now actively trying to get it renewed for a second season. Their efforts have even included driving a truck with “Save Tony and Ziva” painted on it around the streets of Paris.
I’m not entirely convinced by these attempts to bring back old characters, but I think Mavournee Hazel has a good suggestion: bringing Tony and Ziva to NCIS: Sydney. Their previous storyline involved them traveling all over Europe, so it would be great to see Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo film a guest appearance in Australia, expanding their story internationally. Considering how hard it is for Sydney to connect with the other NCIS series, getting Tony and Ziva to visit Australia would be a fantastic way to create a crossover.
Ideally, I’d love to see both of these characters back on the original NCIS show, but I’ll take what I can get. I’m looking forward to Sydney and Origins continuing their current seasons on Tuesday, March 3rd. Good news – all three shows have been officially renewed and will be back for the 2026-2027 television season.
