Good news for fans of The Lowdown: the show has been renewed for a second season! Created by Sterlin Harjo, the series debuted in September 2025 and concluded its first season on November 4, 2025. Season one followed Lee Raybon, a self-described citizen journalist and ‘truthstorian’ in Tulsa, played by Hawke. The show also features Keith David, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Ryan Kiera Armstrong, and Kyle MacLachlan.
Lee Raybon’s search for answers in the show often leads to complications. Currently, the series is performing very well, ranking as the sixth most popular show on Disney+ worldwide, according to FlixPatrol. It’s even outperforming well-known series like Grey’s Anatomy, Bluey, Modern Family, and How I Met Your Mother on the global streaming charts.
The television show The Lowdown will receive a major honor at the upcoming AFI Awards, being named one of the ten best shows of 2025. The series has earned high praise from critics, achieving a remarkable 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. Viewers also generally like the show, with a 77% audience rating based on over 250 reviews on the same site.
The Lowdown Star Was Hopeful the Show Would Get a Second Season
The actress was optimistic about a second season of The Lowdown. She plays Francis, the daughter of Lee Raybon, played by Hawke, and is eager to return if it’s renewed. “I’m completely prepared and hoping Sterlin Harjo gives me a call – I’d be on set immediately,” she stated. She’d especially love to revisit Tulsa and work with the talented crew and Ethan Hawke again, and is excited to explore Francis’s story further, perhaps even with some action sequences. She’s ready for whatever comes next for Francis and Lee.
During the interview, Armstrong discussed playing the character of Francis, explaining that she enjoyed portraying Francis’s personal growth. She related to the character’s constant change, noting that, like any teenager, Francis experiences daily shifts in identity. Armstrong highlighted how Francis becomes noticeably stronger throughout the season, and she found it rewarding to develop that character arc and journey. She described the role as a fun and challenging experience.
The Lowdown Season 1 is streaming on Hulu. A premiere date for Season 2 has not yet been announced.
